I could probably name quite a few but I remember just being in awe of some of Calvin Talford athletic highlights from his one season with Hobart back in the early 90's.

That dude could sky!

He couldn't shoot a lick though and had to rely on his freakish athletism. Which is why I guess he was only around for the one season. I think he dropped something like 50 in his first game?

Actually, I find Boucher interesting to watch also. Farley, Ng, Abercrombie, Ballinger when he's on his game, etc.

I'm not surprised to see no one mention Ricky Grace. It's because he made your team piss for the best part of the 90s.

:-) Stiffy is currently running a hoops camp for kids at Coburg here in Melbourne. My kids are there for a couple of days this week.

Great Bloke.

Don't know above loving watching him play.

DJRod.....Ricky "The Rainman" Jones was incredible to watch. I think he put in 60 or so in a Magic game down here in Melbourne.

My Favs, all in their prime .....

McClain
Trimmingham
Rose
Burton
McCaffrey (Awesome Point Guard)
Talford
Crawford
Copeland (silky smooth)

If I had to throw an Aussie in there, I think Sammy in his prime was pretty impressive to watch.

Anyone remember this guy? I'm sure he torched the Sixers for like 50 points one game with the Townsville Suns. I think that was the first time they ever beat us.

isn't it amazing how many names you forget to put on your list when you see others put them on theirs... and for different reasons that stick in your mind.

Copeland for his LJ Converse shoes + I went up to him during a game in the Suns first year... he was on the bench (they were smoking us) i got him to sign the card and had like a big conversation with him. Nicest guy.

Ricky Grace, Calvin Talford, DMac, Chris Jent...

Chris Jent played here for the Giants against the Suns while I was the assistant to the MC. I kept score and fouls for him to announce. After the game Jent was doing an interview for Channel 10 and I gave the MC Jent's score as 35... he heard it, mid interview, ran over and told me he had 38, gave me a wink, then went back to his interview.

Stiffy and Darren Smith made the Devils a pretty exciting team to watch back in 1996 or so... It wasn't often that there were Aussies that could sky like them (esp. Stiffy at the PF as he played then)... Sure they were a poor team - but they were my favorite team after the sixers because those two... If someone had told me that Jason (warming the SEM bench at the time) would be the one to become a Boomer i'd have laughed them off...

So many to mention!

Benny Lewis, Locke, Overton, Reggie SMith, Talford, Chris Williams, Carlos Powell (even thugh he was a ball hog!) and Everitt Stephens

And the obvious ones:

THe Alabama Slammer, CJ Bruton, Trimmingham, Burton, Ere, Mackinnon, Dwight, Hurst, Maher, Farley, Grace, D-Mac, Saville when he is on, Newley, Donta Smith when he was on.

I could go on and on.

Over here in NZ the basketball folk I have met are so jealous of how good our league is, and very happy to have a team in it.
