Junior Coaching Tips

Perfect Junior Coaching Tips:

ALWAYS:
Compliment good moves first
REASON - Players tune out if negative points are given

Encourage all players
REASON - To make players feel they're putting in

Use a firm and cosistant tone
REASON - SO they know who is in-charge

Allow feedback
REASON - They have to listen to you first

Give visual looks at your plays
REASON - Visual teaching works twice as well than theory teaching

Motivate team members
REASON - This gets them pumping as well as you

NEVER:
Single a player out
REASON - This makes others including the player feel down and useless

Take losing as an option
REASON - This makes players play worse

Touch a player
REASON - Some players/parents find it offensive and can create controversy
Including - Even a gentle slap on the back

Argue with an Umpire
REASON - You wouldnt want your players to, and you may get ejected, causing amazing embaressment

Swear
REASON - Sailor talk is not good around young players, even if they are older

I follow this, I saw it posted years ago on a web site, and can't remember were I got
it, but it is a great system...
