BNSW U18 Metro Competition

Would love to get an idea as to how the u18 Norths boys are performing so well in this competition. They are currently four games clear of second place with not a single state player. The competition is arguably watered down with two key players at the CoE, but regardless, how did this team slip through the cracks. Are there really no state-worthy standouts in a team that's cleaned up the league as they have?

This could explain the 'excellent' results at Nationals for NSW Metro Men

They're a great team with some solid players. But realistically none of their players were 'state-worthy' this year.

This year doesn't really boast a great amount of talent for NSW Metro (excluding the 2 CoE guys, obviously) so a team as deep as Norths has managed to do well. But that's all it is.. depth... Other than the big guy, none were realistically in contention for this state team.

Kudos to them for how they've gone so far. They have one of the best junior coaches in the country so a lot of praise should go to him, he's done a great job.

^ I'd say... really unfortunate for those group of boys that they didn't get chosen - if they deserved it that is. But surely, a team that cleans up the competition should have a few of them that could've made an impact this year in Canberra!

Who's the big guy?? I presume he's the reserve that was in amongst it.

There coach must be a magician that he's managed to whip the perennial underachievers at Norths into title contention. Granted he has a couple of solid players in his rotation, notably some former state players in Rymer and Stenmark, who were arguably cut early in the state system this year. As well as the big guy, Hunter, who was questionably cut from the side, left as a reserve for a state team that took only three bigs to Canberra. Even his presence to give the CoE boys a break could've been some much needed aid.

I personally thought they were the most talented team at the classics. Not sure why they didnt do better.

If recent years are anything to go by, the Classic refs show some significant bias towards Melbourne teams, making it very difficult for NSW teams to compete on an even playing field. On Jonah Bolden's Comets of 2012 (i think) have won the competition in all its years. But you're right, the Norths side certainly had the depth to go further, whether the refs had anything to do with it, who knows, but they did well to come 5th against many very strong sides.

Norths are without a doubt the deepest team u18 metro has seen in a while. All ten players contribute and the coach has no qualms switching players in and out because everyone can get the job done. Their second five would arguably be able to beat the bottom half of the table (comets, sutherland, blacktown and hornsby) soundly. It does help to have their giant rim protector, but other than that, as cliche as it seems, its a team effort.

You're all right, none of those Norths kids are worthy of making the 2014 Under 18 State team. That state team sucked.

haha obviously written by a Norths parent or coach who can't handle their child's omission from the U18 Metro team. in truth, none of the players on their roster were good enough individually to make the cut. they have a deep team, no doubt, and are probably the most talented team overall. but as for individuals, the 10 selected for Canberra are all IMO better players.
