36ers V Japan Game 3 Topend

Live stats http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches/12/12/54/95/89eoHcIPwzr1/

Big Luke chooses to join Peach watching from the sidelines.

Sellout crowd, but then again court 2 at Forestville held this many.

Will Moscow be played tonight?

Japan looking like a team or are not happy going home with 2 loses, so hopefully after 2 more days of training DQ gels well into the game tonight.

4 assists and 3 rebounds for Johns.
4 points for Montreal.

1/4 time 34-21.
Can't get livestats but Mitch must have 10+.
Nice assist to Teys too.

Is Daly actually the 10th man? Or is that just a rumour?
And if yes, when are we likely to see him join the team?

51-36 at. The half.
The Japanese dragged it back to about 5
When most of the starting 5 were sitting.
Montreal will surprise a few people with
defensive skills. He's quick and switches
well. Very verbal too. Couple of misses up
close but otherwise I like what I see.

Mills has lost everyone with some seriously suspect calls. So confused no team know what's going on.

14pt lead into the last

The officiating has been suspect for all
3 games.
Montreal beginning to settle in.

How is our team lining up?
We've basically got 5 players all as SG/SFs don't we?
Pretty much playing a perimeter game? Or have we designated someone as the 'Big'?

Another solid looking game for Johns, and another domination for Creek.
Whole 5 have been pretty solid looking at the stats actually.

Game saving starter making block from creek with 2 seconds to go. Sixers win

Devo, you haven't see local refereeing here. This has been reasonable.

88-86 win in the end.
The Japanese came back hard and played
well despite the officiating.
Some good things seen.
Mitch will look to take control but in a heady
manner. Has matured a lot.
Sam Johns gave excellent minutes in his time
here.
Montreal worked himself into the game at
both ends.

With Luke and Peach sitting out were
quite small. Teys played the point when he
was on. Did a good job.
Add Gibbo, import guard, another guard
(Supposedly Daly) Teys and Johns covering
the back court.
Creek, Peach, BJ, Montreal, Teys, Johns SF/TF
Montreal, Schenscher and Peach at C.
A second big would help but can see Joey
running a perimeter game with what he has
as suggested earlier.

Montreal shot 70% and looked very efficient. Didn't shoot a 3 ball which he can fire as he has shown he can do!

Watching the game, he can defend and has got great speed and athletics. Can see him getting some nice dunks come regular season too.

Will be a great addition for gibbo come regular season.

Is there a comparison for DQ, past or present players?

I'd rather Johns than Daly.

I'd rather Johns too. Rashad runs him at the point mostly for the Tigers.
Also has him manning up on bigger guys in D.
That could be a weak point against a quicker guards in NBL but he's developing.
Trying to think of who I'd liken DQ to. Bit of a mix.
Defensively he was very good and pretty much shut down their bigs and forced the game outside where Japan hit plenty. He doubled really well and recovered to his man in the paint really well (unlike our bigs for the last few years).
Offensively when set later in game 3 he started hitting the j from around 10 feet. Can certainly jam from under the ring. Did not see him attempt to put the ball on the floor like Mitch but with community activities I imagine they didn't have a lot of time to run sets. Mitch kept pointing where he was meant to be.
Improvised better late in the game.
I think he will settle well and improve the team.
