Players that would make good commentators

Every second ex-player ends up in the commentary booth. Some have been good, some bad and some WORSE than bad.

Who would succeed as a commentator of the current players?

Greg Hire - piss funny bloke
Damo Martin - Very shrewd and knowledgeable basketball mind
Chris Goulding - Surprise choice but a big name and wouldn't be afraid to criticise players
Alex Loughton - seems good when he is interviewed

Who would not succeed:

David Barlow - human Manilla Folder.
Brian Conklin - would elbow Abbi Gelmi in the head at halftime

If Homocide is considered a "good commentator", then Bogut would be better in that role.

Utter bollocks. The fact the someone is piss funny doesn't mean that will be piss funny on TV.
Leroy. Terrible. Rucker terrible. Kerle terrible and he is piss funny.

Why is Barlow so wooden in interviews? It's downright weird.

Have you ever seen any interviews with horses that are interesting?

Why not bring in someone from America to do some comments. Doesn't have to necessarily have to be ex player. Sure there are plenty of knowledgeable young broadcasters out there looking to get foot in door. Instead of some boofheads they are wheeling out, get someone that can add something that is inciteful.

On top of being wooden, he looks downright sceptical

Josh Boone has often impressed me with his responses when interviewed on the spot.

I recall him being reasonably articulate and calls things how he sees them without breaking protocol.

I suspect he could transition across to a commentary role and do a decent job.

Ever watched Dane Pineau and Emmett Naar's St Mary's interviews and media pieces for the Gaels? Pretty funny, they'd make a good commentary duo one day.
