Faried and Melo

Interesting to see Faired is getting a buy out from the Nets to go to Houston. He'll be a great fit there, especially with Capela out. They need a lot of help on the boards and someone bigger than PJ Tucker to play centre. His D isn't as good as Capela's, but on the buy out market you've gotta take what you can get and it would be a big win.

They need to free up a spot for him though and they're trying to trade Melo away. I can't see why anyone would give up any asset to get Melo when he'll be available as a FA if/when bought out.

Are there any situations you think Melo could work in?

Unfortunately the Rockets aren't signing that Faried that used to start for the Nuggets years ago, they're signing the guy he's morphed into, who plays with about 15% of the energy that he used to. I don't think this moves the needle at all for the Rockets.

Melo is done as a viable NBA player.

Can't see anyone in the NBA really wanting him unless they tanking and want to put some bums on seats to end the season.

The Rockets know what they are getting with Faried they just hope its slightly better than what the corpse of Nene can provide.

What happened to the Manimal?

He was doing well until he got a bit upset that Paul Milsap was taking his minutes then suddenly downhill.

Melo would still help my Monday night team, we'll cover his team sheet fee. We play B grade so he wouldn't struggle with the defensive matchups like he would in A grade.

Melo and LeBron are still friends, right? Maybe GM LeBron will pick him up so he can experience playing with the GOAT. Shades of Mitch Richmond (a once great scorer) riding the pine on the early-00s Lakers to a chip.

All that aside, no one is picking up Melo. Bad teams with young players don't need him eating into their minutes, and his contract isn’t going to be worth a contract dump. Only way Houston doesn’t buy him out is if they send draft picks, and only get back something as silly as they did for MCW (2nd round pick, Top-55 protected, LULZ).

I don't think Melo's ego would let him sit for a chip. Hard to see him going anywhere unless a fringe team gets desperate post-all star weekend.

The focus on NBA offences is the movement of the ball.

Having the offence stop dead @ Melo to jack up a mid / long range 2pt @ 39% is counter to modern NBA needs.

Melo used to be king of the court at the Olympicx.

and an NCAA champion in his one season with Syracuse. Probably didn't help the ego entering the NBA with that title.

Melo (and cash) traded to Chicago apparently. Who will on trade him or release him. Not exactly sure what came in return

Faried's started OK with Houston. 13 and 6, then 11 and 8.
