Cats v Breakers Nov 17

The action continues with the Cats, fresh from stealing a win off the Sixers, host the mighty Breakers. Last time these guys met was in the sunny town of Invercargill, today, the mercury is pushing the limit of the little glass tube, so that should test the boys from across the ditch.

The Breakers are the only team yet to win an away game this season, but with take solace in the fact that the Taipans won in Perth earlier on in the season after a successful second half push.

But, plenty of action off court this week with the Breakers. CEOs getting suspended, key imports getting into "scuffles". Will this affect them on the court?

With fresher legs, there's nothing stopping the Breakers, except the 13,000 odd crazy cashed up bogan Cat supporters.

Cats to do just enough to make this trip a misery for the Breakers. 0-4 on the road after this game.

Delaney back this week will help.

I had thought the Breakers were a good chance. The game in Invercargill was very competitive. But I can't help but feel Rice will have screwed up whatever good progress they made in their first real week of practice this week.

Why would you suspend glen rice jr for allegations. Backwards decision by the NBL yet again. Was looking forward to watching him play. Tipping breakers in a close one, they need it.

He was charged, which suggests there is guilt, i can understand the league not wanting the image of approving him playing. NZ probably should have left him in nz for personal reasons.

Yeah, tons of backward decisions by the NBL these days. Next Stars, expansion into Melbourne and Hobart, indigenous jerseys, opening their own store. Ware2Bogut, what on earth are you talking about?

Perth arena looks smaller partly because of how many Perth residents are large in size. Cashed up FIFOs can afford a lot of pies.

Good effort by Breakers. If we can improve our on ball defence we would be right in this. 3 point shooting % is the difference. Still hanging around but free throws will probably see Perth home.

I think the ref's view of Gleeson moaning but there being 14K ferals behind him make him look meek in contrast? No idea why he gets away with it either. He acts so unrefined akin to FIFO workers.

"if Martin did that to Abercrombie we would have to listen to them talk about his defence for the next 5 minutes"

Agreed.

After the Wagstaff foul on Hampton and Trev's whine, the refs went one-way big time.

Not to take anything away from that Perth win. Cotton was amazing, Steindl and Wagstaff had cameo moments at important times, and everyone else played their role really well. I think something the Breakers could learn from Perth is that every time someone from Perth got 1-2 shots to go down they'd go back to that well off a nice set play. Hope White is okay.

that was a strange game - Kay , Majok and Hunt did nothing - they never went there at all- and Breakers havent got a Bogut back there - wonder if that was the plan or because Cotton was on fire they just rolled with the 3's - A few by Steindl and Wagtaff also
Was a 3 point throw up from both teams - Webster was hot and Ambercrombie hit them, but Henry was cold - Ashley was the only player looking to score inside - he neds to learn this is not the NBA a defence is not allowed ha ha

"Rice plays Breakers win this game."
"Agree the nbl gifted the wildcats the game by suspending rice."

NBL tried to gift the game to the Breakers when they didn't let Perth sign LeBron as a Next Star.

I know you grow a lot of weed in NZ, but seriously lay off the drugs whilst you have a few Brain Cells left.

Epically stupid move by The Breakers to sign him in the first place, frankly they lucky he was even allowed into the Country.
He's NEVER going to play in the NBL again, and you are seriously demented if you think otherwise.

Can't blame Perth or the NBL for his psycho behaviour or the Breaker's insanity.

One game with a crowd of over 17K is impressive but it isn't being done every week.

Back to the game today in Perth does the rule still apply that if a coach steps onto the court they get Teched? If so, Sharmin should have been given at least 7 that I counted. That includes one time that the ref asked him to step off the court when the game was in play.

Reply #775059 | Report this post

Senator11

Yeah I was noticing the NZ coach was constantly standing on the court, but nothing was being done.

Being at the game was pretty shit, the refs were just on the whistle for absolutely everything/nothing and it just ruined any flow. Rice Jnr was a farce, if the NBL were going to do that, do it when the event occurred, not wait till he flies over to Perth then tell them moments before the game he's not playing. Absolute joke.

The rules may state that the coach can't step onto the court but nowhere does it suggest that the 'Director of Basketball' can't step onto the court ;)
