Josh Giddey to turn pro and sign with an NBL team

For next season according to The pick and roll.

Whoever he signs with, I hope he plays at least 15 minutes per game in his first (and possibly last) NBL season.

Thoughts?

If Damian Martin continues for another year, I could see Perth trying to get a PG next star to cover for injuries

Can someone explain NBA global academy for me? How does it differ from the CoE?

I'm thinking...

Giddey - Melbourne
(Trimble leaving, new import pg, Ili to nz, mccarron, short and Giddey as backup cgs)

Wigness - Cairns
(I see machado leaving, new import pg, Kenny backup, Wigness 3rd pg), dufelmeier moving to s.e Melbourne)

King - Brisbane
Brisbane Have very little guard depth, Braun and Singler to go, Sobey potentially sg next season with new import pg, king 3rd g/f option behind Sobey, Gliddon, Patterson

Taine Murray maybe nz next star?
You would think they want gapare the following year as next star?
Aussie Blake Jones also maybe an aus next star? Smaller team, maybe s,e or Illawara
Bayles has signed with Hawaii.

I don't think the NBL wants Australian next stars that’s why we development players, way more potential for nba scouts with American next stars.

I honestly thought Giddey would head to college given the hype and opportunity it presents, especially if he headed to Colorado, a nationally ranked program where he would get to play big minutes immediately.

Having said that. playing in the NBL as a development opportunity if he actually gets a chance to play (ala Ball) would be next level.

Giddey lacks the explosive aestheticism of the Hamptons/Balls so not sure he'll have the same impact however he has great basketball smarts so could play a role for a team.

If he wants court time you'd head to one of the poorer/bad teams ie. Hawks, SEM as you'll get to see the floor which at contenders he probably won't behind an import.

Probably the college pathway would be far better in terms of exposure and development (court time mainly), however there are many factors to consider even for this including style of play, roster, strength of program, on top of the academics. Good prospect so hope he will keep developing.

Taller Aussie point guard that's got a professional sporting father, are we not talking about William McDowell White or has he got far more upside than him?
