Adelaide multi purpose stadium

Big news. How long is the 36ers contract at the entertainment centre?

Also, there's almost zero rugby league or union played in SA.

This will take a long time to build and logistically get right. But if it ever happens, rip entertainment centre.

That looks impressive if they can pull it off! Anyone ever heard of a similar stadium design with the soccer pitch elevating to allow access to a basketball arena underneath?

Design is a bit flawed when the floor elevates it cuts the uppeeeer deck seating off.

22,000 soccer/rugby turns into 15,000 basketball/netball

Not many of these around although the football stadium in Lille which hosted many games of EuroBasket 2015 comes to mind. It has massive hydraulic lifts. 50K in football/outdoor mode and 25K for basketball/indoor.

It's an innovative concept for sure.
But you have to wonder, by the time you factor in the costs of engineering, building, and maintaining such a feature, how does that compare against building a separate venue?

The Lille stadium does lift half the pitch and move it 50m on top of the other half of the pitch to reveal an arena floor, seems a bit easier than lifting the pitch 50m in the air. Surely it'd be easier to use the same process as Lille, move the pitch out of the stadium level like State Farm Stadium in Phoenix or even move it under a grandstand like Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And just have a conventional retractable roof.

Reading about this the other day I think it replaced a few venues including Entertainment Centre.

I wondered if this being a real possibility influenced decision to move to Ent Centre in first place to get both sides committed
