Newbill such a huge loss at the 2.

Not sure if they'll have enough to make finals.

Cairns probably lost the most, losing that import spot, not just because they probably had the overall best 3, but their depth can't cover it. Hopefully Noi continues to improve and stays injury free. Never really hear any chatter about him for boomers, prefer him to some of the same old names and plenty more upside. Not saying he's in the best 12 currently, but rather him when healthy than Cadee and Barlow.

Can those who proclaimed it's 100% Scott Machado offer some clarity into their thinking?

#515 agree on agree on Noi, underrated and should be in the conversation over the 2 you've mentioned, I’d through Sobey in there too. Not saying he isn’t good in the NBL but he’s not an international player imo

I think Noi doesn't get much mention for boomers because for him to have a shot at the boomers, he would have to be better than any availble three. Right now he is competeting with the likes of Ingles, Creek, Broekhoff, Cooks, Adel and Blanchfield.

Great signing for taipans, after his stint in Israel at end of last season where he was excellent he obviously thinks his path to nba is easier through nbl. Well done to mike Kelly in getting the faith of a quality player like Oliver.

Noi has a lot work to do on his defence before he's Australian standard. Cook isn’t a three either as kings found out last season, he plays four, Blanchfield lmao, we will now actually see what Adel can do other than sitting on nba bench. The other three are great though.

No disrespect to Noi, but he averaged 10ppg on 41% shooting, with a poor assist:turnover ratio and very questionable decision-making. As far as rookie seasons go: he did well, and will no doubt have a productive career (injuries permitting), but if anything he's overrated at this point because people assume he will reach his potential. Noi is probably years away from us getting a better read on whether he'll be good enough to make the Boomers.

Did Cam Oliver price himself out of playing for richer teams ? Great news for Taipans but suprised he wasnt picked up for a bigger city team.

Nothing to do with price, all got to do with the coaching staff, Kelly's done very well after long apprenticeship.

It's always great to see imports returning/ staying with the league.
Especially so for a team like Cairns

Not really sure what that means? You're suggested richer teams couldn't afford him, but Cairns could?

It's not always 100% about the money. Often times the offers are similar, and the determining factor is something else. He did well under Kelly's system and possibly wants to continue that.

Plus with sashed budgets and reduction to 2 imports, there were less opportunities.
It might also have come down to timing, as other teams had already locked players in, anticipating a shorter delay to the start of the season.
