VJBL cancelled for 2021?

With the 5th lookdown looking to extend, does it make sense to cancel the current VJBL season and start focusing on next year tryouts? I believe that more than 6 games have been cancelled out of the 16.

Bv and clubs can't afford for the season to be cancelled.

Ahh they haven't operated at normal capacity since this thing called covid? That’s a big reason.
If full season doesn’t go ahead, more refunds, less revenue, less ability to pay staff and bills.
Basketball games provide income.

But they'll survive. No income but also a lot less cost. Some of which will be paid for by Governments.

They'll live. Again.

People think it's an economic decision. Umm, no.

when it is safe and approved to start again - some sort of modified season will happen I'm sure - will also occur in other states. States may well have some sort of one-off unique schedule.

Any thoughts on extending the season to get enough rounds in to make a fair season before finals?

That would make more sense. And then run the finals over a weekend or two, like a carnival.

Agree. I think the kids would really enjoy a carnival style finals series.

BV need to get to work and lobby hard for enough people to be allowed in bball standout time ensure kids can get back as Vic opens up. Herald Sun reporting up to 100, but under BVs own rules this will mean many courts cannot operate.

NBL1 South will start up in another week, so no reason any Vic basketball stuff should be shut down.

Some clubs informing parents comp will re-start this Friday apparently.

Seems unlikely given the 100 person cap on facilities.

One would think 2 weeks of training, groups of 10 allowed so teams stay on seperate courts.

Restriction levels ease in 2 weeks on Wednesday 11/08, so next game Friday 13/08, 3 rounds of games before finals making the season 10 games total, the bare minimum but not a waste.

Congratulations to BV for their work on this.

Looks like different venue restrictions allowed for community sport, good result if this gets confirmed tomorrow.
