Huh? What kind of logic is that? They both fell out of the NBA at the same time and Baynes did a serious injury and hasn't played anywhere since. Delly spent the season playing for United and had just been playing well for the Boomers in the FIBA WC qualifiers.
Sure Delly wouldn't be getting a look in by Sacramento if his old coach wasn't there but Tate wouldn't have got a look in from Houston if Weaver wasn't there either. That's how the NBA works, connections get your foot in the door not to mention Delly's 8 year body of work in that league including playing a key role during the Cavs championship season.

Mitch Creek too never would've played in the NBA if not for Weaver too when he was at the Nets. Even Baynes himself likely only got an NBA shot due to BB & Patty at the Spurs. The Jazz had just drafted Exum, hence they grabbed a buddy for him in Ingles off the waiver wire etc. For those at the fringes connections get your foot in the door.

Makes sense why Delly couldn't play for the Boomers in the upcoming Asia Cup. When the NBA calls you have to take it.
Even though I think different. Playing for your country should always be number one priority, sad leagues are going this way. Money is only money, doesn’t solve happiness or fun memories with your team mates.
