What's happened with Roman Siulepa?

A while ago there were talks he was potentially signing with Cairns or Adelaide? but there seems to be complete radio silence on this since then, I know he was looking to complete year 12? does anyone have any further confirmed Information on this?

Siulepa opted to continue with high school rugby union and his team recently completed a three-peat.

Sorry I did know that, but the belief was that he would commence back with the next star program after this, or are you saying he's continuing with rugby post school and no longer looking to play professional basketball?

Never met the guy but you can hardly blame him if he has picked Rugby.
Less travel
Closer to home
Perhaps more money certainly initially in the short term

Does seem to suit him more.

He's meant to join a team as a next star once exams are done

Curious also. School rugby finished early September.

If he was serious about the NBL, he'd be with a team by now. Maybe he valued going to schoolies with mates.

With Kefu as a mentor, no doubt he would be guided towards rugby.

That he gave up a golden opportunity with the Jacks speaks volumes. Would've had a prime chance to showcase himself with Tassie this season.

So much talent, so little focus.

You are only young once, he's taking his time to enjoy life and make the right decisions.

If he just wants to enjoy life and completing school, 100% behind it, if he wants to play rugby professionally 100% behind, his life, he should follow his dreams, just curious as it completely died off in the nbl media.

100% Dorito.

Def no piling on Roman, everyone wishes him well with whatever pathway he chooses.

Understandably though many would be disappointed that an immense talent would be falling away from basketball. Which may be the case, otherwise NBL Media would be trumpeting the news until we were sick of hearing about it.

Totally agree on all points Ben, including the NBL media trumpeting on about it until we're sick of it, haha

Perhaps but not necessarily. Siulepa was prohibited from playing rugby after moving to Tasmania before NBL pre-season.

JackJumpers allowed him to return home at some point for a break, during winter, where he decided to resume rugby without informing them.

Perhaps having signed a Next Star contract, even though it has been torn up, precludes him from signing with another team and/or the NBL aren't interested after having their time wasted (since Next Star contracts are paid for by the league).
