NBA games in Melbourne - when can we expect updates?

A few weeks ago it was unveiled that NBA games would be played in Melbourne. Great. I think many of us plan on going. But since then its been radio silence as far as who is coming, around when, and what the ticket prices and ticketing situation is going to be.

Does anyone have any insight? I guess it's still 7 months away but the USA/Australia tickets were on sale an entire year beforehand.

Would nearly be 100% the team Giddey is on so will depend on his contract negotiations which would be months away. Opponent candidate I would say most likely could be Atlanta with Daniels.
Or Giddeys opponent may be a west coast team in terms of distance, but not one that has big superstars that could complain about travel, and not contenders.

Yes at this stage I'd predict a Chicago vs Atlanta game

The Big3 are coming to Australia in November too.

"The BIG3 has announced that it will host its first-ever international BIG3 Showcase in Australia in November 2025 through a groundbreaking new partnership with the National Basketball League (NBL) and GameAbove Sports.

The Showcase will bring a contingent of the BIG3's top players to Australian cities this November. More details will be released later this year, after the BIG3’s eighth season gets underway on 14 June."

A bit underwhelming - the fourth worst team in the NBA whose star probably wont attend. I get it was arranged while Dyson was still there but still, I imagine this experience is going to be overpriced and underwhelming. I may still go for the sake of it.

The other thing is this thing needs to be a success for any better teams to show up down the line.

I love that Zion was the posterboy for the announcement. Even if he's not traded, I've got at least even-odds with Zion of suiting up for the Pelicans in Melbourne.

Absolutely no chance Zion shows up for this.
He's had a hard enough time getting on the court for regular season games as it is.

Look for those who have never been or seen an NBA team it will be a great experience for those die hards who have made the trip across the ocean to see games etc this will be a flop.

Those that want it will see it for what it is, the critics will breathe what they want on it.

A good marketing opportunity for the game, local media will be all over the NBA Coming to Melbourne, so basketball will get another boost. End of story thats what its all about.

** I won't be going.

I wouldn't be wasting my money on NBa to come to visit ....
Reason why …
All their best players will not play therefore it be second lot of players .
In past NBal teams have travelled to USA ..usual roster
Not fair for people to see NBA teams and best not available.

David Griffin just now saying they're coming down to do a portion of their training camp in Aus before the games and guaranteeing the full roster including Zion, Murphy and McCollum will be here.

Not a guarantee they'll actually play, but it's a step towards it I guess.

I would rather watch any regular season NBL game.

The upside is this may be a building block towards something. And lets give LK some credit, everyone has always said we'd never get an NBA team down here... well now we have. That counts for something. Ill always respect Larry for his ability to make things happen.

kk partizan and panathainakos also playing NBL teams here in September. This is a meaningful shift in international engagement with our league. Apparently its a four game series, and if an NBL team takes down a Euroleague giant in a game, the league will get a lot of notice internationally.

Its all coming up Millhouse for the NBL atm.

Good luck and see if this is true that David Griffin is bringing ALL including star players but I have seen this before and hope I'm wrong .Be nice to see kk coming in September ,but I won’t be holding my breath with NBA team’s tournament in Australia.
See what happens in one month prior .

Meh, I've been to the US and gone to regular season NBA games where every player was taking the piss by going through the motions.

This will be on another level beyond that with travel being an excuse plus the bonus of having pre-season flavour.

Any more info on this? A lot more excited about these games than the Pelicans.

Agree this tournament of European kings will have more to it. You would think Melbourne would want this with its strong Greek Community, but sydney would be in line as well to host.
