Hodge a Sixer? Rumoured

"HoopsHype.com blogger Julius Hodge is heading back to Australia after failing to get a roster spot with the New Jersey Nets in training camp, agent Cervando Tejeda told HoopsHype.com.

Hodge is returning to the Adelaide 36ers of the NBL, where he averaged 24.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg and 5.9 apg last season. The team features former NBA player Luke Schenscher."

Too good to be true.
The fine print for Hodge's contract probably says he will only play under coach Voldermort.

I suspect they weren't so much as hating on Smyth, but recalling the "Hodge will only come back if Smyth is coach" posts by fans from months ago or the comments from Hodge that he'd like to play for Smyth again. That's not "Smyth hate" at all.

Best news so far this season if true. The team just needs some one to help alter its chemistry and someone who can turn it on which he can is awesome. Very happy.

I think it is fact due to this reason.

Yesterday (13/11/08) the following article was written on Tyndale with coach Ninnis saying that he needs to step up.

http://linky.com.au/aevre

The very next day Tyndale is sacked!

That tells me that they were negotiating with Hodge and if he didn't sign then Tyndale would get a few more games while they looked for another replacement. The fact that he was sacked the next day shows that Hodge was probably signed.

I agree and hope it is the case, that bloke could do everything for us, i say whatever we need to do to have him sign again is easily worth it, crowds atmosphere and team agression will all be up. Atleast I can look forward to the rest of the season now because it was not looking good.

Those of you on this forum who know me will know that I have a few connections within the team through various interests.

I sent a message earlier this afternoon to one of my contacts (who will remain nameless) that read:

"Heard anything about who they're getting to replace Tyndale? According to his agent, Hodge is on his way back here - if you believe the Internet."

This was the reply I received:
"I'm not allowed 2 say directly but I'd believe the internet..."

Looks like it's a done deal. :)

Correct Mutley. He's a vicious dunker. The kid can play. He was drafted by the Bucks in the 2nd round. Didn't get much burn and went to the D League where he did do well. He played with Tulsa 66ers, where he averaged 20.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Just thought it was interesting to pull out a few stats here once Hodge joined the team late last season:

6 wins, 6 losses

I find this interesting that we were considered (by Boti for eg) that we were the 'form' team of the comp. For some reason this thinking skewed my memory of our record with Hodge. Thought it was something like 8-4 or 9-3.

Crowd numbers are very interesting - very consistent low 4000 - avge = 4300 pre Hodge. Post Hodge avge = 5610. Based on a ticket price of $20, that was an extra $26,200 per game - 5 games were at home so Hodge alone managed to pull in an extra $131,000 just at the gate, not to mention food and drink, car park etc. Well worth the outlay??

The Sixers have 10 more home games this season. If Hodge is able to pull in an extra 1300 people a game, then that equals $262,000 just at the gate - surely that would pay for the cut of Tyndale, Hodge's wage and generate much more excitement and goodwill towards the team.

Here's to hoping we see Hodge in uniform soon and many more spectators cheering the Sixers on to some crucial games toward the playoffs.

Best news I've heard bout the Sixers in a while if they have indeed secured Hodge, which it appears they have. This will definitely bring me and a fair few of my mates to the Dome, Hodge is just in a class above the NBL, and I have no doubt that he will get the Sixers back into the playoffs.

The Dome needs to be a fortress, and with the signing of Hodge results in more bums on seats at the Dome cheering on the Sixers. Get the crowd going, and the Dome is the loudest crowd in basketball. Will be very excited to see Hodge back in a Sixers jersey, can't wait.

Actually I changed my mind about Noel and Jackson. I think the excitement of a dunking machine in Noel caught my eye. However after watching Jackson score 30 points in a NBA game and reading Noel struggles to create his own shot I think Jackson would be better :P

Luke Jackson scoring 30 in a NBA game

http://linky.com.au/d9j0v

Looks like Jackson has much more better stats then Noel. Also Jackson is a better shooter (College Stats):

Jackson FG 46%, FT 85%, 3pt 40% (174-433)
Noel FG 53%, FT 59%, 3pt 35% ( 63-181)
