will Erin be the missing link ?

Just saw Connecticut go down 3-1 in the Championships.

A significant injury to their no. 1 guard clearly jeopardised their title chances.
They had 2 good back up guards - but not shooting guards, like Lindsay Whalen.

Q - Coach T hinted "maybe some changes"

my answer - bring in 1 shooting guard in Erin Phillips - and see what happens in 2006.

those girls just take it to another level.

t starts with last year's draft. Erin Phillips, a guard who chose to play with the Australian national team, and Megan Mahoney, a forward from Kansas State who tore an Achilles' tendon, were selected but have yet to join the Sun.

Assuming neither is selected by Chicago in the expansion draft, both are expected to displace players on the roster. The Sun also hope to re-sign guard Candace Futrell, who was released before the season because of an ankle injury.

little bit more in conn media

Just as detrimental was the Sun's lack of production at point guard. Whalen came into the series with a broken bone in her left knee and quickly sprained her left ankle. She missed Game 2 and hobbled through Games 3 and 4.

Whalen never resembled the player she had been all season. And Jamie Carey and Jen Derevjanik, while serviceable for stretches, could not compensate to pull the Sun out of a series-long offensive malaise.

Carey and Derevjanik combined to shoot 0-for-5 in Games 3 and 4. Whalen was 2-for-10 for five points. The Sun's fast-paced offense, driven by the point guard, got six points on 2-for-15 shooting from that position in the two biggest games of the season.

signs are good Erin - go girl.
