Hawks @ Phoenix - Thurs 8th Dec

No thread for this one yet, not surprising.

Not expecting much from this one. If anything resembling a close match, that's a bonus for us viewers.

SEM by 12.

There has been 12 minutes played in this game.
So far, 21 fouls with 25 FTs attempted.
Is this what people want to see?

HAHAH, the NBA actually FLOWS.

The NBL is SO DESEPRATE to be seen as a high scoring league to try and attract big name players to the league so it can resemble the NBA are artificially trying to increase the scoring.

Anyone seen to be playing defense is regarded as the devil.

Basically the NBL is saying no one is allowed to defend.

When the NBL wonders why its TV ratings are so bad have only themselves to blame.

I am talking about the product.

There literally is zero flow in this league.

The owner is so obsessed with making a profit, he is prostituting the game for his own pocket.

He does not seem to realise it will hurt him in the long run.

This is not entertainment and the TV ratings prove that

Sunday4/12/22 ratings for pay TV top 20 programs are at least 45,000 viewers

Basketball wasn't in the top 20

Saturday top 20 was at least 41,000 No NBL game or program

Friday top 20 saw NBL Postgame at #17 with 25,000 viewers

Thursday NBL Postgame had 29,000 viewers for #16

Cricket gets 160,000 - 200,000 viewers

Supercars 100,000 - 140,000

Basketball is irrelevant as a media item

Thanks for posting.

NBL will never rate as high as cricket or Supercars.

Those numbers are higher than I thought they would be to be honest.

Is "post game" referring to the number of households who have just watched the game?

No, its the show

Meaning that the wrap up with Hooley , Homocide et al gets more viewers than the game itself

Does everyone who has a Pay TV subscription have ESPN though?

Asking as I don't know - how accurate really are 'ratings'.

Do they account for people consuming NBL through Kayo and other means?

I think it's a little foolhardy going off PayTV numbers alone.

It's very, very rare for the game to be over before the post game show starts.

Those figures don't include Kayo, it's purely Foxtel.

@koberulz

If it was the game that rated it would be listed as such. I cant find any NBL game that has rated inside the top 20 programs of its day.

The ratings are average viewers at any time across the broadcast. The games almost always run into the post-game show, so the ratings you see for that are effectively the average viewers watching the end of the game.

I'm pretty sure those ratings don't include Fetch TV.

No, because the ratings system just sees what's on the TV guide, it has no idea whether the game finished on time or not.

No, it doesn't.

Viewers are tuning in to the end of games which happen to coincide with the start time of the post game show.

Use some logic - why would a crappy post game show outrate the actual game?
