WNBL Fines Handed out

As Per WNBL Website

The Sydney Flames have been fined $5,000 for the unauthorised use of mobile phones during WNBL games during the 2022/23 WNBL season. The WNBL has protocols in place for the league to approve the use of a limited number of mobile devices during games to protect the integrity of the league. The Sydney Flames did not follow these protocols.

The UC Capitals have been fined $1,000 for failure to play in the correct uniform for their game against the Southside Flyers on Wednesday 28 December.

Could be that after Heal was ejected, either he or someone else was communicating with bench via phone. Or could have something to do with one of Heal's assistants who is serving 12 month ban from incident in NBL1.... If they were using phones to allow him to participate??? He is still employed by Flames, at practices, but not games. Very shady interpretation of suspension rules.

I wonder if Heal will cry foul on his show? He was quite outspoken when it appeared that the Breakers had cheated & that there should be heavy penalties

Most professional sports limit phone use during games (at least here) to block potential communication between players and match/spot fixers.

Caps have referred an incident between Shane Heal and their coach to the WNBL, also.

The 9Now broadcast showed part of a verbal exchange between Heal and Bourke. Apart from not liking what each other had to say, there looked to be nothing to it.

Heal is a law unto himself (or at least believes that he is) & is an absolute embarrassment to the WNBL. Any opposition player that gets remotely physical with Shyla he loses total control & will trash talk that player on the court & in some cases at half time walking into the change rooms! As soon as Heal is out of the WNBL League the better. Somewhere Karen Dalton is smiling to herself...

The Flames have been using a phone on the bench in other games. Noticed it early on and thought it was odd.

What a surprise Shane Heal is in the middle of all this behavioural and integrity stuff.
