Quality screens should be a stat

i feel effective screens should be counted as legit stats.

we count assists

yet a good screen can get someone open nicely for a clean shot or drive - just as important.

certainly a missing stat - many players work hard on screens

Paris MacCurdy would have led the NBL in that stat during his fleeting visit to our shores...

When Paris came to our fair shores they said he could play all 5 positions - I would have been happy if he could have just played 1.

Paris could have also lead the league in attempted strips that lead directly to an opposition basket.

Yes paris can do it all. She allows too much gap penetration though. She is a great back to basket player though.

drawing charges should also be a legit stat. just as effective as a steal.

Yeah, but that was with Pamela and I'm not sure if you could class that as a gap.

Before I get banned I'd like to put my defence in for consideration.

Def agree with taking a charge as a steal for stats as it rewards good defence for a change!!

The cybersports software actually asks for the player who takes a charge.

Some people still put them in, some just ignore it, as it is a non reported stat.

what the, i can see your point, however it would need some very clear definition as what constitues a screen, and remember that the stats caller needs to be watching the ball, so off ball screens could be very easily missed, resulting in an unreliable stat for the screen.

however, if an adequate guideline was developed and submitted accordingly, maybe the powers may take a look at it.

nah not screens. Charges though.

why not a stat for bad haircuts on the court. Plenty of winners there.
Rodman a definite winner. Jordan doesn't even rate on this one. Bird is up there though. of the new breed, Iverson.

Or an arsey shot stat. Heal would be all-time leader. Nash,

You guys need to all get a life!!

drawing a charge foul should be up there with nabbing the ball. drawing the offensive means the player has read the offensive play, wants the ball, and is gutsy enough to stand in front of the charging player - outstanding! pumps up the whole defensive side! not only does the defensive side get an inbounds, but they have the potential to create foul trouble for the opposing team

Most the stats that we are asked to report on are normally on directive from FIBA, or at the very least Basketball Australia.

To get a new stat in takes a fair bit of work.
