This idea was mooted here around a year ago i'm sure. Great concept, yet i'm not sure where the financial benefits come from???

Reading the About us, they make the claim that

TEAMelbourne is a world first alliance of Melbourne's premier sporting clubs

That's like me claiming to be part of the world champion Pasadena C grade basketball team of 2005.

Or John Lawrence being the world champion Sydney Comets courtside announcer.

haha, classic!

With so many sporting clubs competing for the corporate dollar, it only makes sense to align yourself strategically with other like-minded clubs. Port Adelaide Power (AFL) and Adelaide Thunderbirds (netball) are similarly aligned, though Port sponsoring the T-Birds has something to do with it.

The smart clubs will jump on these sorts of opportunities. The others won't.
