Vickerman confirmed as NZ assistant

The New Zealand Breakers have signed former Melbourne Tigers player Dean Vickerman as assistant coach for the next two years.

Vickerman will start his new role early next month, joining Breakers Academy coach Judd Flavell as the chief support for head coach Andrej Lemanis.

Isaac, do you think it is a make or break year for Lemanis, if they don't make the finals is he gone?

Could be. That said, recruiting is tough for them so I might be a little more lenient were I them.

Can't see many other coaches being able to do better unless they can attract Boucher, Frank and Rampton and get/retain someone like Phill Jones.

Vickerman says it is a good move for his career, perhaps the best part of the move is that he knows NZ are going to be in the NBL. It could be the case of him jumping a sinking ship.
