Qld the best league???

Basketball Queensland has claimed they are the best and the weekend ABA finals have "put the QABL on the map as the proven superior ABA League in the nation".

Now having checked the league results and rosters for the men up there, the league looks pretty average. The Carins program is excellent and is working hard all year to produce NBL players, full credit to them but one team does not make a great league.

Where do they get off saying this???

QABL- Proven as the most superior ABA League in the nation!

The Townsville Flames and Cairns Marlins have been crowned the 2007 National ABA Champions. The Waratah League winners couldn't put a dint in them; the best that SEABL had to offer were weighed and measured and found undersized; while the Big V 'big-guns' couldn't match their might. After collecting the honours in the QABL State Grand Finals, both the Townsville women and Cairns men breezed through the ABA Nationals to put the QABL on the map as the proven superior ABA League in the nation.

Grand Final results as below-

Townsville Flames 92 def. Hume City Broncos 49 (stat's)

Cairns Marlins 110 def. Dandenong Rangers 98 (stat's)

These two wins are a massive boost for the profile of basketball in Queensland, with the QABL looking bigger and better in 2008, with two national crowns and 15 clubs working well together to progress and strengthen the full State Championship.

Imagine if 36ers had and ABA team...

3 A. Majstrovich Fwd
5 B. Maher Grd
6 M. Sutton Grd
8 D. Ng Grd
11 D. Cooper Ctr
14 B. Davidson Grd
21 L. Copeland Grd
23 J. Dodman Ctr
30 A. Dench Ctr

How would they go?? Would that make the SA League the best??

The 36ers DO have an ABA team.

Unfortunately, they'll be running around the NBL this season :-)

All other QLD ABL teams are CRAP.

Marlins only lost ONE game early on ALL season...

Marlins are so good as there is an NBL team in Cairns and only the one ABL team so most benchies/development players play for them. Simple as that.

They have 2 legit NBL starters in Grabau and Boody, then another 4 NBL quality benchies in Jawai, Cook, Smith and Vale, all are in the Taipans apart from Vale who was the last 2 years.

BINGO and ABA championship..!

If any other ABL team in Aust had that much legit NBL talent in it they would have done the same thing!

Not to take anything away from them, but that is just the facts.

Let's put it in perspective,QLD have one good overloaded top heavy team, that is ONE TEAM playing in their QABL. At the least all other leagues can boast at least a four deep comp.
