Depends on who you believe. Yi barely said anything this whole time, which lead most to believe it was just his handlers who did not want him to go to Mil. and instead to a bigger city where he could earn more sponsorship $$$.

Also, some people from the Bucks organisation went over to, and are still in, China (or Hong Kong, can't remember where they met) to discuss this matter. Maybe that won the entire Yi camp over?

Or Herb Kohl (US Senator and owner) made it clear in no uncertain terms that the Bucks were NOT going to trade Yi... In all everyone wins here - except for the CBA and Yi`s old club who were set to receive quite handy cashflows from Yi`s supposed big deals if he was going to go to a big Asian market... Way i see it Yi gets to develop out of the spotlight on a young and potential power team in a few years... And the NBA saves face from a potentially emarrassing display of petulance by "unspecified agents" (i have no doubt Yi really didn`t care where he played)...

What might've changed his mind was a guarantee of playing time - minimum 20 MPG.

Those guarantees, according to the source, include Yi averaging more than 20 minutes per game and possibly as many as 25.
Watched him play the Melbourne Tigers via SopCast the other day and he was very good - if Stiffy held back, Yi calmly hit a long jumpshot. If they played him close, he spun and scored. Very impressive to watch.
