Kobe trade- knicks?

Salaries match, Kobe moves to a place that could fit his ego, Lakers get some salary relief in two years when they go after a big free agent. Obviously the knicks would have to throw in some more, crawford comes to mind, maybe lee as well.

Not worth it for either team I don't reckon.

The Lakers are winning, beating good teams, and running smoothly. There's no point in changing around the whole rotation to fit new guys who'll want minutes, seeing as the Kobe complaints have died down.

I think a bigger priority for the Knicks would be getting rid of Stephon Marbury, rather than getting Kobe. I don't think Kobe would be happy in New York, either. He have a worse supporting cast once you take out the guys who'd have to be sent to LA for him, and he's got no hope of being anywhere near a championship with the Knicks.

If the Lakers keep the same core, they can be in with a good shot in under 5 years. The only guy in the team over 30 is Derek Fisher, so they're just as young as the Knicks, but with more talent.

Agreed 3. Kobe would not want to play in NY. Plus you'd have to give almost the whole knicks roster to equate to the worth of Bryant.

As if lakers wouldn't do a Kobe for Curry/Lee/Robinson trade. Bynum and Curry, now thats twin towers. Both young too

Sorry guys, forgot to say who the trade was for....
Basically it would be a kobe for marbury deal. Their salaries are both max, kobe getting a bit more. Lakers could either buy out steph or keep him for a couple o years till his contract expires. lots of quality free agents in 2009... lee and q-rich, maybe curry could round out the trade too.
Something is definately in the works though coz the lakers just pulled a salary based trade with the magic...

Its not about the talent moron, its about the lakers getting the cap releif to pursue a big free agent in 09. They would probably get picks and a throw in player like lee, craw or curry to team with bynum for the future.

It's a nice idea Nathan, but the Lakers aren't going to trade for contracts, let alone ones that don't expire till '09. A lil too risky.
