Hoops SA 2008 Mock Draft

We did this last year and was a bit of fun. With the draft coming up this week thought we would do a Mock Draft Top 10 Picks - we can tally up after the draft is over and see who did the best. As a tie beaker put in our picks for where we think Jawai will go.

Point System - 1 point if your player is in the Top 10 and 1 if you get them in the right place.

1. Chicago - Beasley
2. Miami - Rose
3. Minnesota - Mayo
4. Seattle - Brook Lopez
5. Memphis - Love
6. NY - Westbrook
7. LA Clippers - Gordon
8. Milwaukee - Danilo Gallinari
9. Charlotte - Alexander
10. NJ - Bayless

Jawai - Pick 37 - Milwaukee

just read on ESPN that several GM's have been quoted as saying-

"Beasley is far and away the best talent in the draft."

Chicago will draft him first- he is too good.

Been wondering that. Is his attitude/personality the main detractor?

If they can't really make a bad decision, could they trade picks with Miami and try to get something else from them?

I think it is Isaac. Every draft synopsis I've read on him states that he has maturity issues and is known to take to easy and scouts question his desire and hunger to become a better player.

Show me a 19 year old that doesn't lack maturity these days.

"Is his attitude/personality the main detractor?
" IMO, partly. More so the fact that Rose is a local Chicago boy - great way to re-build a franchise is with a crowd favourite.

While it's unfair to draw a comparision to the player type, LeBron was a Cleveland local which helped the Cavs (that and he's a superstar!)

Beasley siad today he just likes to joke around and have fun, but knows when to switch it on and off - I think its been blown up heaps - he is 19 year old kid about to be drafted 1 or 2, give him a break...At least for once someone is acting like themselves and not trying to act like a 19 year old pro and suck up to the media and all the GM's, good on him. I see it as a good thing because he'll be a fun guy to have in the lockerooms also.

chicago will draft rose.

that's why rose canceled his workout with the heat, because the bulls has informed him that he'll be the first pick.

New Orleans has just traded the 27th pick for cash to Portland.

Denver has just traded pick 20 to Charlotte for a future protected first round pick.

Very late change (if we're allowing those!) - Mayo and Beasley swap. Mayo @ 2, Beasley @ 3.

We'll definitely allow it - seeing as it is wrong and your initial pick was right ;)

I love moments like these on this site. Forum regular asks for leniency, another regular is kind enough to allow it, first regular locks in a silly decision with no way of editing it. What made you switch them around?!

I read some things. Miami brought Mayo in for another workout and there were reports saying that Beasley could fall a spot or two.....

Took a shot. Failed. Miserably. ;)
