Going into the main break the Opals are up 44 - 28. Everyone from the Opals are playing well. Except Erin Phillips whose the only player not to make onto the court yet.

Why is Screen there? That spot should be filled by someone like Veal. Screen can not score to save herself.
Because it will be an eventual spoiler.
Good to see that channel 7 have shown the WHOLE game. Does this mean they'll show the whole of the boomers? Or is it only because there isn't much else on at the same time so they can't cut to the swimming or running? Or is it because the Opals are a gold medal chance?

Paul - she's there as a lockdown defender. With the amount of offensive power in the team, i think they can afford to take a dedicated defender.
Thank God they had Rachel Sporn commentating. The bloke had NO IDEA. When there was an issue with the table officials in the 1st quarter, he said the ref had "gone to speak to the judges"! The judges! Are you serious.

I agree, Chris Dittmar had no idea at all.. but Rachael Sporn was great.
Disappointing that Erin only played the last minute of the game, whilst Bevilaqua got good minutes as the back up point guard.
They played ok without really dominating, but the win is all that really matters!

I know that the corporate dollar is what helps deliver the games to television watchers, but there was a moment that really pissed me off.
An Opal had thrown a long pass down to Laura Summerton who was on the break. She collects the ball in the paint and takes off to attempt a contested layup.
Channel 7 cut to a series of ads.
The first ad was all about people trying to watch the Olympics. That's what I was already trying to do, you bastards!

Love Dittmars use of " that shot just rimmed out " when half of them were blatant ugly bricks .

Phillips doesnt deserve court time over harrower or tully. And Poto should have been the third point guard anyway!

Agree with Anon Poto should be there. Love Phillips but she is too slow at the point at this level.

You say Paul that Erin is too slow when you have Harrower who is 31, Tully who is 35 and Poto who is 32, Erin is 23 i know who my money would be on and that is Erin.

Does brains come into it at all? Give me Tully, Harrower or Poto (and probably a few others) over Phillips in this category any day. Phillips lacks the smarts and composure to run the team as a point guard.
If Poto was good enough the Australian selectors would have selected her, obviously she isn't good enough.
