Sixers new boss

Just wondering if the new owner or owners will be better than Mal. Mal took the team over 2 and a half years ago and it has been the worst period in the clubs history. When he bought the team off the government he said it was to late to make any changes even though other teams were still doing it after he purchased the team. They wanted to cut Farley as he and his wife were causing problems but he didn't want to spend the money.Last season when they wanted to cut Chappelle he didn.t want to spend the money. It wasn't until Boti embarrassed him into it that anything happened. In comes Hodge and the team is so different imagine if we got him earlier. At the end of the season replace the coach and tell us it will be better but now its worse I can't wait for a new owner otherwise Ninnis will get the blame not the owner who does nothing.

Sure it's easy to blame Mal. But Mal doesn't really control things. Sure he's the owner and probably should take more control, but he's left that to daughter Kate who is the real power (for whatever reason), (Mod: Bit risky - deleting to be safe.) As someone posted recently "Who would buy the 36ers when there is no guarantee that there will still be a 36ers licence next season with the revamp of the NBL"? (Mod: Bit risky - deleting to be safe.)
And if the team is REALLY owned by Groves (as many people suspect) then why hasn't he done something. Oh yeah he's got more problems with ABC Learning Centres than caring about Adelaide and the Dome.

nifty/anon or jokker ... if you have a beef with these people then talk to them directly.

You go very close to slander above so you better hope those people you mention aren't reading this.

And we all know who you are, even when you reply to your own post.

Mal has screwed the 6ers over yes but it's the fan which have turned their backs on the team. if the public put more presure on him to take actin he would but Aelaide is full of fans who jump on any band wagon. For example, the soccer couldnt fill the stadium when the team was down and now they sell extra tickets. when the power won the flag suddenly there were more power supporters around than crows yet they can't even half fill aami.
and when the 6ers were on song the dome was paked and people in their houses could hear the fans and yet now the people have turned their back on the club.

I don't think its a case of people turning their backs on the 36ers because they are haven't been doing well in recent years. I think its more the case that it is boring watching them consistently lose and not make playoffs. Off course there is a lot more excitement when they are doing well and winning, because its a lot more enjoyable to watch. Its the entertainment value that determines whether you go to a game for many people. The last few years has been poor entertainment value.

Is the Crows/36ers partnership sort of a way of the crows sort of owning the 36ers?? Or is it just going to be things like cross promotions and sharing of resources?? which either way would be good and even if its just through cross promotions should help the 36ers save some marketing money and gain a bit of extra exposure through the crows!

Expect to see the 36ers wearing crows livery dresses next season similar to the Port/Thunderbird aliance.

Not too sure what resources the 36ers have to offer the Crows, Paul Bauer perhaps ? It's not like the club owns anything of any value, or has really talented staff with great marketing skills.... most of the ideas they "come up with" are pinched from the crows anyway.

The Crows/ Sixers union- two losers together still add up to two losers, lets hope a revamp in a new comp brings about positive alternatives. The crows are going to be bottom shelf for a few years to come and are experiencing the genesis of the same 'coach' issues that plagued the Sixers for the last 2 or 3 years.
The present 36ers don't cast a shadow and are unlikely to be viable in a new revised environment unless they have substantial backing and high profile troops and leaders.

The crows may be bottom shelf, but they still pull pretty big crowds, Not that I really give a toss about AFL.

Im not a crows fan, but they are hardley bottom shelf losers,im pretty sure they made the finals this year. Also they have a massive membership base and plenty of $$$ and top class resources and facilities, i think its a great aliance for the 36ers, and the crows also if they wanted to could probably afford to drop $1-2M per year into the 36ers and take some level of ownership, and offer joint memberships, etc and become Adelaides major sporting cluib, a bit liek how alot of European clubs have both a soccer and basketball club.

Bottom shelf losers? FFS what drugs are you on. If the crows are bottom shelf, what the hell is top shelf, Port Power who have once against lost 1.4 million dollar and losing members every year.
AFL in Australia is top shelf sport in Australia and the Adelaide Crows with huge memberships and profits year in year out are right up the top of that tree so if that makes the bottom shelf not sure what it makes other clubs in this city.

This is the media release issued by the Dome yesterday.
TWO SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ICONS JOIN FORCES
The Adelaide Football Club and Adelaide 36ers Basketball Club are pleased to announce that they have today entered into an agreement for each club to become a "community partner" (of one another) for the next three years.
This partnership will formalise an already strong association between the two clubs who shared celebrations during the "Back-to-Back" years for both teams in the late 1990's and will see the following activities take place throughout the 08/09 Basketball and Football seasons and beyond.
· Players from both clubs involved in junior promotions together
· Players from both clubs attend and be involved in pre-match activities of the other affiliated club.
· Senior coaches sit on the bench/coaches box on at least one occasion per year.
· Joint networking functions with club sponsors.
· Signage and logo use at each other's home games.
· Joint promotions to membership bases of both clubs.
· Attendance of players and officials at each other's corporate functions during the season.
· Signed framed Guernseys of the other community club will be prominently displayed in both club offices.
Adelaide Football Club CEO Steven Trigg said, "Our club has always had an excellent relationship with the Adelaide 36ers however this more formal agreement will see our two clubs take our already healthy relationship to another level. We already share the same colours, many members and sponsors and a common desire to be team's "for all South Australians."
"We see this community partnership as an ideal way to expand on an already strong association and take it to yet another level. Most importantly we see excellent benefits in the partnership which will provide a positive outcome for both clubs."
Adelaide 36ers Director, Mal Hemmerling said "Formalizing this relationship will deliver both clubs with enormous mutual benefits so we can work together in strengthening our position within the community and add benefits to our Corporate Partners as well as our many loyal members."
The partnership will be formalized at the Adelaide 36ers home game v Perth Wildcats at the Distinctive Homes Dome on Saturday night.
In addition, to join the celebration of Brett Maher's (an Adelaide Football Club Ambassador) 500th NBL game, Crows player Brett Burton will present a no.5 Adelaide Football Club Guernsey to Maher on court just before tip off which is at 7pm.

The basis of the Crows-Sixer alliance has nothing to do with the on-court teams and performance. It doesn't matter if both clubs finish top or bottom, it's about information sharing, cross promotion, utilising ideas from each other.

The Crows have an awesome board, CEO, membership base and workers - it can only benefit the 36ers.

Well done!
