Ronaldson wins NBL POTW award

Tony Ronaldson has won NBL POTW after the Breakers went 2-0 against the Spirit and Wildcats.

Ronaldson registered 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in 25 minutes on court in the Breakers' 114-70 rout of the Sydney Spirit on Thursday and followed it up with 31 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 31 minutes against the Perth Wildcats on Saturday.

Over two games he compiled statistics of 17-32 field goal shooting (53 per cent), 6-11 three-point shooting (55 per cent) and 9-12 free throw shooting (75 per cent).

Contributing factors in the decision to award Ronaldson were the Breakers getting two wins from two games; overcoming a four hour time difference when travelling from Auckland to Perth; brushing off travel delays that saw the Breakers' luggage arriving in Perth just 90 minutes before departure for the game night venue; and triumphing over an opponent and crowd hell bent on revenge.
The NBL were actually considering postponing the Perth-NZ game because the flights were so messed up. I think there was a 16 hour difference between the Breakers getting to Auckland airport and then eventually arriving in Perth - ouch.

Runner-ups this round were Adelaide's Julius Hodge (31/3/10 against the Blaze) and James Harvey (37 against the Hawks, 23 against Adelaide).

Honourable mentions went to:
Others in contention for Player of the Week were Mark Worthington (South Dragons), Glen Saville (Wollongong Hawks), Ebi Ere (Melbourne Tigers), Adam Ballinger (Adelaide 36ers), Peter Crawford (Perth Wildcats), Shawn Redhage (Perth Wildcats), Jason Smith (Sydney Spirit), Phill Jones (New Zealand Breakers) and Kirk Penney (New Zealand Breakers).

I would've picked Harvey.

Harvey was unlucky to miss out and so was Ere who shot 17/29 field goals over two games (59%), including 9 of 16 3 point (56%) and 9 rebounds per game.

Wollongong (and a very close loss to Adelaide). Not bad for the bottom side.
