"The Townsville Crocs, another NBL team, rarely get people to play them at home. We have been told there will be another big-time crowd for the Sunday afternoon game. We were also told that the Crocs were a better team than the Wollongong Hawks. That is just what we are looking for!"

Townsville got up with a big last quarter, 104-99.
Hinder had 30, Cedar 21 and Williamson 15 for the Crocs. Vanderbilt was led by Beal with a game-high 31 points, followed by AJ Ogilvy with 21 and Taylor with 19 & 10 rebounds.

A 28-21 final quarter got the win for Townsville in what was a tight game all the way.

Commodores should be in for a great season with a combination of scoring from Ogilvy, Taylor and Beal. Beal is a scoring point guard but showed quickness and creativity to create. Taylor is a superb athlete. Not sure how tall he is but looked around 6-6. Has monster hops and is long and lean. Ogilvy is the go-to player on this squad but he needs to become a killer and demand the ball right on the block. He showed some nice floater's and jump shot's today as well which will impress scouts.

The Crocodiles were sloppy early but ended up coming home strong for the win. Russell Hinder was unconcious going 11-12 including 5-5 on 3-pt shots. Crocs had 26 assists as well. Hoare had 5, Rolan Roberts fouled out but huslted and rebounded. Homicide was a little un-interested but ended up taking over down the stretch.

Good to see more top NCAA schools out here. It is an even match-up I think.

Makes the point-guardless Hawks win over Vandy look even more impressive.

Looks like Gleeson spread the minutes very evenly. Good first up hit out for the Crocs, look deadly again from deep and will be better when Robertson returns.

15 points from downtown from your centre...pretty difficult to stop and it is not like Vanderbilt would have scouted the Crocs either.

Vanderbilt Blog - Day 9 (the final one): http://linky.com.au/1yal1

Head coach Kevin Stallings Quotes:

"I was proud again today of our effort in the loss. While I am never satisfied losing, I felt like we got better today against the best team we've played on the trip."

"Jermaine Beal was incredible for us, making a number of big shots. AJ, Brad, and Jeff continued their solid play." "Overall, the trip was extremely beneficial for us and I am anxious to get to work again this fall."

Beal & Taylor were VERY good for them! Beal especially made some big time shots and some big time moves. He has star written all over him.

AJ got into foul trouble (dodgy calls) early and once the 2nd half got going he was able to go to work again. Nice guy, very down to earth and has a big future if he continues to develop.

btw Kevy47 - the Crocs were without their 2 PG's - Homicide turned up late (he only got his clearance from VENEZ an hour before the game) and was benched for the 1Q and only played limited minutes... kelvin is still coming back from his knee injury.

Cedar & PC filled in.

for those interested: Roberts & Hoare primarily played C, Hinder was PF
