I'm pretty sure he gets a automatic entry into the draft.

What the hell is Rob Kanning talking about? Ingles put his name in the draft last year and was not selected. There are no more drafts for Joe Ingles.

pretty sure if you put your name in the draft you are automatically in for two years... but sayin that, i am unsure whether it was last year or the year before that ingles had his name down due to tonights alcohol consumption scrambling my memory a bit...

Anon, sorry to say but your are wrong. You get one shot at the NBA draft and that's it. Ingles was not selected in last year's draft, and thus he is now a free agent.

No an international player gets an automatic entry into the draft the next year. Ingles 2 years ago pulled his name out from the international players cut off date. Rob may be reffering to the NBA summer league though.

Ingles put his name in the draft last year and wasn't picked by anyone like someone said no more drafts for Ingles.

Aussies to have been drafted by NBA teams:

Ed Palubinskas, 3rd Rd '75 (Atlanta traded to New Orleans)
Luc Longley, 1st Rd '91 (Minnesota)
Chris Anstey, 1st Rd '97 (Portland traded to Dallas)
Paul Rogers, 2nd Rd '97 (LA Lakers)
CJ Bruton, 2nd Rd '97 (Vancouver traded to Portland)
Ben Pepper, 2nd Rd '97 (Boston)
David Andersen, 2nd Rd '02 (Atlanta traded to Houston)
Andrew Bogut, 1st Rd '05 (Milwaukee)
Brad Newley, 2nd Rd '07 (Houston)
Nathan Jawai, 2nd Rd '08 (Indiana traded to Toronto)
Patrick Mills, 2nd Rd '09 (Portland)

In the draft you can actually get another shot.

Yi used it as a threat before the Bucks selected him. There is some rubbish that if a person is selected and they don't like the team that select them, then if they sit out off all pro ball than the can re-enter the draft.

As Ingles wasn't selected, he's a free agent until signed.

Which Ingles and 99.9% of professional basketball players wouldn't do. From memory Kobe used that threat too to scare off anyone other than the Lakers drafting him (via pre-arranged deal with Charlotte). I think Steve Francis might've threatened to do that with Vancouver too (which forced the trade to Houston).
