Would probably not get an NBL gig.

But he does have a solid skill set, had 19 points against China at 4 nations, and could flourish in an ideal setting.

I think it is more his mindset towards the professional side of Basketball.
Remember earlier this year he had that discretion where he turned up to training visibly hungover.

Then you had the Drink Driving Charge and add in his general laziness towards conditioning

Do people not remember what he did to jawai when they played. Has played in europe and can def hoop.

Definitely has talent. In addition to game against china mentioned above also made jawai look silly at times in the '09 oceania championship. Could be a player if he improves his attitude towards conditioning and gets off the drink!!

"Do people not remember what he did to jawai when they played."

I think you meant what Jawai did to him? Jawai only averaged something like 17 & 10 in that series (the last time he played for the Boomers too I think) and that was also with the falling out with Brett Brown to deal with.

Anon^, watch the game again lol. Sure Jawai got some numbers but so he should have.
He was essentially an NBA player going up against a fat lazy kid from Aucklands North Shore who can hoop cos his dad was a New Zealand National League Import.
That fat kid scored some nice buckets on Jawai and the Boomers lost.
Anthony has always been on the outer of BBall NZ as his attitude towards training and diet have never been up to scratch. It looked like he may have turned a corner at the New Zealand Breakers but as Macdub said, a drink driving offense coupled with a player imposed ban from the team for turning up hungover may have been the final straw. Leaves NZ short on size to back up Pledger at C and even Vukona at PF.
Might see Gary Wilkinson hang around now? Maybe Truman back in the mix? Would love to see Rob Loe at the Breakers after St Louis

Anthony only played in one game of that series from memory so to quote a series average is unfair.
Wether it was Jawai's bad attitude that allowed BJ to hoop or BJ's ability perhaps should be the deciding point of view.

Most of the media reports I can find have quoted Lemanis as saying that it is just a result of having Vukona/Boucher playing that spot and not enough minutes to go round which rings true as they took the title without Anthony. He has also not ruled out him returning in the future as Boucher should be due to retire in the next season or so.
NZ will be needing a back up Centre for Pledger, wonder if Wilkinson may take that or if they have someone else in mind (NZBL guy/Import?)

Cell, don't worry Mystro and a couple of other drones always trot out the "BJ held Jawai" crap all the time.

Jawai killed BJ Anthony in that series.

In Game 1 of that series BJ Anthony had 6pts & 7rebs on 3/9 shooting and in Game 2 he had 9pts & 2rebs on 4/7 shooting.

Cool story bro, indeed.

It's awesome that Anthony is so shit that you have to defend Jawai's performance against him.
NBA Player Vs Fat Kid who can't play

The coolest story about all of this was the result

Oh don't worry anon, I remember the series and BJ Anthony DID hold his own against the 'NBA' player. Jawai shot 12/30 (40%) from the field over 2 games.

Alex Pledger had 16p 6r in game one and 15p 13r in game two. Thats on 13/21 (62%) shooting

Perhaps Jawai should have locked down on atleast 1 of those NBL bench warmers...
