Best SEABL performances over the weekend?

Griffin had 41 points and seven assists for Canberra.
27 and 10 for Dowdell in another game.
Massingale had 37 with four steals.

Canberra played three games in three days - any other teams?

For 36ers fans who're interested, Massingale's scores this season:

24, 29, 27, 22, 24, 37.

Averaging 39% from 3P and 47% from the field.

The Massingale numbers only prove that when the guy is used properly, by a competent coach, that he produces.

Not discounting his ability, but it really only proves that he produces against a certain level of opposition.

Well Isaac he did score 18 against Perth whom are a decent level of opposition. His issue was limited minutes (not ability) and playing for the worst coach in NBL history didn't help.

Massingale was NOT used properly at the 36ers, he's a 15 PPG player @ NBL level without question.

Traditionally players drop about 10 PPG moving up from SEABL to NBL and vice versa.

See the bit where I said "Not discounting his ability" - I said that specifically so that people didn't feel obliged to reply as you've both done.

I was just saying that performances at SEABL level don't mean much at NBL level, as was implied in a previous comment. I've already plainly stated my thoughts that Massingale should not have been replaced and that the since-departed coaches hardly gave him a shot, and certainly not a proper go after the Perth game.

Reading comprehension fail from KingJames and anon above.

I'm gone off-topic here but wouldnt be suprised if the coaches wanted to sack him before the Perth game, then had to bury him on the bench after that performance hoping to ruin his stock leading up to his dismissal.

Griffin was destroyed by the Pioneers guards on Friday night & had no impact

11 points, 2 FG's fouled out in 3rd period.

So what do SC stats convert into at seabl level?

So by that rationale Ron Nunnelly would have been good for 45 per game.

Some players just step up and fill whatever minutes they're given. Or don't excel further when playing down a level.

Supercats had some good performers in returning from a double header against both Tasmanian teams with two wins, but this team is winning because they don't rely heavily on one player...

Former 36'er Nathan Herbert just racked up his 250'th game for the Supercats, not a bad effort. Oh, and he has scored 4,000+ points now too!

Devils advocate here, if CJ is an NBL talent, how come no other team has given him a try either before this year or the Kings and Hawks this year who had import injury issues?

Who me' and all that have posted similar comments. Without going to much into it and obviously off topic he was 'signed' to replace Lance Hurdle this year. when Ubaka was released from the Tigers Gleeson offered him a contract. Now for whatever reason why he did not accept or fulfil those obligations are another story! If Im not mistaken Joey Wright was in talks with him a few years ago also.

Whether people are naive to believe SEABL or preseason games(same games that imports get released if under performed) don't translate or mean much at the NBL CJ could have been a major contributor on that 36er team. In the big scheme of things he is and has been the best player in the league next to NBL for years and for anybody to say he couldn't be a solid 6-8 man in the league is absurd.

back on topic

Gunners import looks like he can fill it up, 3 games in three days is tough.. Pioneers did a good job on him but they did have 3 of their starters out, so I could imagine they keyed in on him..

Miners over the Spooks! more impressive by the week.

Miners have Geelong this week at Arena in "Game of the Month" so that will be extremely tough and then Miners have Bendigo at Bendigo in two weeks but the fixture looks good with so many home games (9) through April-May-June.

Miners have two away games in April then 2 away games in May and only 1 away game in June.

Could possibly be sitting top of South conference for most of that time.

Predicted Top 4:

South = Ballarat, Nunawading, Mt Gambier & Knox.

East = Geelong, Dandenong, Bendigo, Sandringham

Frankston will be OK. They appointed a good coach to take over and try to start some change.

Not exactly a young, exciting, world beating roster and now with the import down, they will struggle, but will come good eventually. 2 five point losses isn't exactly terrible.

Long term they'll be ok but hes getting little support from the board. Your only as good as the cattle you put on the floor.

I agree with your top 4s VP.

Bandits had their moment of glory in the sun but seem firmly back in the cellar. They are going to regret letting Ferguson get away for a long time to come. Hobart just can't get their roster right and having players commute to play can't be helping either. Canberra much improved but perhaps not quite playoff potential although they could threaten. Good to see them doing well though since it was touch and go whether they'd continue in SEABL for a while.

Daniel Joyce 31 points 11/13 FG including 6/7 from 3-point range - certainly had a night to remember.

On the other hand Nick Payne 0/11 including 0/4 from 3-point range has a night to forget.

Both the Bandit teams get smashed at home by the Gunners & Capitals.

a 7 man Supercats line up (no Owuso, Herbert or Friend) last night defeated Brisbane by 2 points on the road. Got behind by 14pts a couple of times, but refused to give up, made no excuses and were able to grind out what is arguable their gutsiest win - fantastic effort from the 7 guys who took to the court.

Talk about gutsy wins the Hobart Chargers were 2 men down also and managed to beat a full Pioneers side at home.
Apparently one player has quit and another couldnt make the game due to family circumstances.
Pioneers did split the weekend by beating the Thunder by 3.
What's going on with the Rangers? Now at 4-5 they and the Bandits aren't the teams they were last season.
Bandits season must almost already be over.
