While not all the stadiums are that flash, and there are some with limited seating, Sandringham would have to be towards the top in terms of questionable facilities/situation:
- Show is situated in basketball shed along with 3 others courts.
- Spectators have bench seats along one sideline which are above the court with players change-rooms, umpires rooms & public toilets located in space beneath the seating.
- Team benches are the other side of the court, either side of the score bench with no public seating that side or either ends of the court.
- Team benches and some curtains that go to bench height are all the separate the show court from the other 3 courts.
- That is no problem if the SEABL game is the only match on, but having been there for double header SEABL game (womens & men), when at the same time all 3 other courts were in continual use for social/local basketball, it wasn't good. During the womens game at least twice the court announcer asked whoever in the crowed that was using a whistle to stop using it, before being informed it was actually umpires on the other courts. All throughout both SEABL matches you could hear the umpires whistles & buzzers from other courts which was confusing both teams & unofficials all night.
That isn't up to standard and should not be permitted at this level.
