Houston have fired McHale, promoting Bickerstaff as interim head coach.
McHale will make $12m for the 11 games coaches this season.
McHale said he has had more meetings with players in the past 4 to 6 weeks then in the previous four years combined.
"The team was not responding to Kevin McHale. There is no time in the West."

Management suggested they weren't keen to make the call but felt that he'd lost the locker room.

that's what happens when there's that many inflated ego's in the locker room.
They should have canned him after losing the Portland Series. He gets out coached regularly and got by last year with Harden playing out of his mind. Harden has come back to earth this year and everything has been exposed.

Disappointing decision. McHale one of the more likable coaches in the league but I guess you have to do whats best for your star.
Coaching is a tough gig but you nearly need to reinvent yourself every few years so that players don't get sick of you

Harden responds by going for 45 points 11 assists 8 boards and 5 steals. The second ever player to get that stat sheet in nba history. Not only that he had 27 points in the last and the OT.
McHale was a terrible in game X and O's coach and the players knew as much. JB Bickerstaff is a good young coach but I suspect Scott Brooks or Tom Thibo are Morey's targets. Brooks coached Harden in OKC,
