Kyrie Irving out 4-5 months

Kyrie Irving will undergo a procedure to remove two screws implanted in his left patella after the patellar fracture he suffered during the NBA Finals in 2015...

...pathology indicated the presence of a bacterial infection at the site of the hardware. To ensure that no infection remains in the knee, the screws will be removed. The fracture in Irving's patella has completely healed, and his knee remains structurally sound. He is expected to make a full recovery in 4-5 months.

Ouch. Something of a derailed season for Boston who, at full strength, would be adding Hayward and Irving to a team second in the East and 7-3 over their last 10 without two of their better players.

Pity Lakers didn't waive IT and he signed back with Boston and he led them past the Cavs, now that would have been a story.

I think Jalen Brown's and Jason Tatum's games would suffer with IT (and a non-fully fit IT at that) being ball dominant.

Of course this happens, and Lebron gets another easy path to the finals.. Its just mind boggling that this guy has never copped a major injury at any point in his career whilst the stars around him in the east fall to pieces (Kyrie, Embiid etc) Even going back to 2012 when D Rose tore his ACl.

Says a lot about the luck, body build and prep that Lebron does as an athlete, heard he leaves nothing to chance with his recovery techniques.
