Hawks new signing

Team owner, Simon Stratford tweeted today that another talented player is coming to the Hawks. This suggests that it's someone new.
Could it be the Conklin announcement? Daniel Grida? Xavier Cooks (doubt it), or another? I know they were also interested in Felix VonHofe.

Why doubt Xavier Cooks.

Because, Cooks will likely be a 2Way player or have some good euro teams looking to grab him. At this stage of his career, that wouldn't be the best move.

It's not Felix VonHofe. The hawks are not looking at him.

I heard from multiple people that the Hawks are looking at VonHofe, that doesn't mean they have offered him. He would be a great succession plan for Coenraad. Very solid player and a great shooter. But thanks for the intel 'Smith"

Bevos a great coach, but his simple system relies on the perimeter guys to at least be competent 3 point shooter. Tokoto is good so it will be ok but not a perfect fit.

The NBL have tweeted that the Hawks and David Andersen have mutual interest. He's coming up on 38 years of age next month.

Why all the hate for David Andersen?

Yes his career is tapering, but he has had one of Australia's premier careers over a long time at Boomers, Euro and NBA level.

He’s been very important in many Boomers campaigns (he made himself available more often than most overseas based players).
He’s been very important for his teams in Euro campaigns.
He’s been a role player at NBA level.

Unfortunately, we didn’t see him in his prime in the NBL.

If the signing is true, he'll be much more productive playing for Bevo in his system than at United.

Ogilvy will start with Anderson as backup, but give it a month into the season and the hawkheads will be calling for him to start.

You can't play AJ and Anderson together unless they're in a zone like their 1-3-1 from last season.

I don't think there is any "hate" for Andersen, but negativity is based on perception and rumour.
He played out his career overseas, and make a few quid, and most would say good on him.

The rumour (romur?) is that he was on ridiculous money at United, and if true then the perception is that he's greedy, prolonging his career by condescending to play in our league but still demanding top dollar. Furthermore, if true, then he was a waste of money.
And perhaps Hawks fans are concerned that he may still be demanding too much, even if it were half what he was rumoured to be on.

I think some of us have unrealistic expectations of these returning expats:
They are mostly at the end of their careers, often carrying injuries, and by definition nolonger able to make the grade in Europe. Yet our league is no less demanding.
Some of the leagues they play in, are arguably no better than the NBL, just better paid. Whilst those that do play in the better leagues have been role players on a deep bench. Yet we expect them all to charge out into the NBL and dominate with 20ppg.

And the problem with Salary romurs is that we really haven't got a clue.
Maybe Andersen agreed to play for league minimum to help win a championship?

AD you really don't know a lot. Speculating on anything is pointless. "Made a few quid". There it starts. Andersen was a premier player OS for a long time. He would have made shitloads. He had a lot to offer at United based on his previous career and unfortunately was hurt. He wouldn't have been on minimum because he is a nice guy.
"Some of the leagues they play in, are arguably no better than the NBL," THat's not true at all. Andersen was an elite player. Not playing for chump change at all. Anderson wasn't a role player either.
Don't make assumptions like so many do here because you think it's true.
