Bogut 3 steps ahead of everyone else on the court.

I can see a lot of rub action between he and Lisch. I feel like Lisch will shoot the 3 in the 40s this season

Let's cool it down a tad people. Senior pros vs. a junior team.

Let's not dog St Mary’s too much - their second tier Aussie players and reserves still make the NBL. See Lucas Walker and Matt Hodgson, who are enjoying healthy NBL careers despite not being able to get on the floor for St Mary’s. The Kings made a statement against a good team.

They are kids and you would expect the KIngs to get an easy win. I have seen one St Marys game and whilst impressive for a group of younger men they weren't outstanding at all IMO. That 7'+ kid was terrible.

Melbourne beat saint Mary's by one point, minus imports Moller and Pledger just off plane, shows the kings are going to be very strong.

What’s that got to do with the team that the Kings played last night?

Regardless of how good St Mary's is, or not. I'm impressed by the Kings, because by this time last year, they were still had no team chemistry, and losing by 10 to college teams.

Shows how bad United are actually.

What it has to do with the team last night:

If, historically speaking over the last 20 years, the worst of St Mary's many Aussie players (who could not crack the rotation) still have played in the NBL, it stands to reason that they typically field talent that should be competive at an NBL level. Therefore, the fact that Sydney blitzed them is not insignificant.

I know there are those who think your average NBL team would win the national championship in NCAAs every year due to the over simplified mantra of "men v boys," but that is pure delusion.

I don't think any Kings fans are deluding themselves into thinking that this was an NBL-level roster we faced last night, or the fact that the Hawks and United fielded below-strength rosters. Still an impressive performance, especially defensive intensity.

Hasn't been mentioned here but Brian Bowen played for some sort of Kings select team in the warm up match. I didn't see the first half, but he played most of the 2nd. The team won by plenty. Sam Daly also played and was the best on court. Bowen looks to be a good athlete and has excellent size. Likes to handle the ball. Can't take much from last night as he was pressing a bit, but should be able to help out this season.

David Wear might be lucky to make it to opening night. His final couple of minutes made an otherwise awful night look respectable.

The Kings development squad played against a Central Coast association team made up from Waratah and Youth League players.

Don't think either of those guys got an NBL spot when they returned from St Mary's. They both had to play lower levels then work their way up the benches. Players by their late 20s are usually significantly better than when they were in their late teens and early 20s.

They were both in the NBL within two years of college. I don't think SEABL did wonders for them. Much more likely NBL GMs saw they didn’t get minutes in the WCC and didn’t rate them with a spot out of the gate.

Pineau, Ben Allen, Clint Steindl all played for St Mary’s but were underwhelming. No issues getting a job right out of college and Steindl even fancied himself avover the NBL after a few seasons.

If Ben Allen is your case, you need to reconsider it!
