Breakers v Sixers Oct 28

Watch out Breakers, the Sixers are coming.

The current ladder show the Breakers on the bottom of the table, a position usually reserved for Brisbane. The Sixers are on the second leg of their road trip after knocking off Cairns in Cairns a couple of days ago.

The Breakers are potentially in a rebuild phase post Vukona who has been the rock on which other guys have built. The games are a bit rougher in NZ and let's hope there's a little bit of Bledisloe Cup hangover there today. DJ and his crew in the front court will have his hands full with the key getting crashed, but Sobey is in MVP form at the moment and should be hard to stop.

Sobey and Webster will be the central sprockets for both teams. Usually a road series might go 0-2 with a good series 1-1. I think today the Sixers can squeeze the toothpaste one more time and go 2-0.

Sixers by 1, on the final play

I'm not convinced Braswell can coach based on what I hear in the timeouts.

Breakers offence looks sick again. Too many wild 3's.
Wiley on fire.

Yeah, Braswell's strategy seems to be keep chucking up jumpers and eventually they'll drop.

A good portion of Abercrombie's minutes should be going to Delany going forward.

That's pretty much how Braswell played AngusH.

Why is Braswell drawing up offensive plays when he is screaming about defence?

The difference in ownership groups is already apparent. I worry about the Breakers' future.

I worry about the breakers future based entirely on the 3 minutes of the half time interpretive dance show that seems to be unfolding in lieu of actual entertainment. what in the actual fuck is this supposed to be?

Sky has Casey Frank's by-line description as having played 27 games for the Breakers. He clearly played more than that - a quick check and the correct number is 122. How embarrassing.

Giving Adam Doyle game time in Q1 is pretty brave, or confident

Great offence getting 60 in a half but Adelaide can't be happy conceding 55.

I think they should just keep letting Delany find his feet at PF rather than trying to make him learn a new spot just as he's getting going, might set him back.

Very clear the private entertainment basketball league has it in their minds to gove this game to NZ. Not taking away how well they are playing but the no calls for thw sixers and thw soft ones on te other end are even too obvious for the game callers. Wry smile from Joey all right. He knows the score.

That second spot with Goulding's injury is upp for grabs. I think Perth will get top spot so the second spot with this logjam is up for grabs

Fantastic win by NZ.
59-34 in second half.

Froling stood out in a dismal game for Adelaide. Credit to NZ bench particularly Delaney.

Congrats to New Zealand but weird that a team that flew 2 x 3 hour flights yesterday ran out of legs in the 2nd half, who the hell thought that was a good idea for a double header, just schedule the 2 furthest teams away from Adelaide with 6 hours of flight time between them back to back. And I realise that Perth is playing New Zealand both away and home in a weekend in round 7 that is also stupid, stop doing that shit.

Frohling dismal game what a ridiculous comment and very young player with no calls going their way even inciting the callers to actually question it which never happens. Yes NZ played well but the Sixers were not able to fairly show if they could finish it. Losses are okay if outbeaten by 1 team not 2, or even 3
Looking to ensure certain teams maintain their spot. Its a private league remember and we all know the reffing is hugely bias often. Joey was never going to get a win in his 450th and with Foulding potentially out with his knee it wouldn't surprise me if more teams see the same as what the Sixees were served up today. You know it. And Joey won’t lose it this year, he will smile as he and his players know it too. Meanwhile Gleeson will be tech, warning and fine free for spraying off about the same. This new league has less integrity than the last, just more money and hype, nothing more and definitely far less transparency and that is deliberate. No wonder Joey will head back to the states soon and Australia loses a mentor and a friend to many Aussie basketballers looking for opportunity.

Referees will be spewing at that result.
NBL referees ADORE the 36ers

That was some serious home cooking in the last quarter, as bad as it can get whether intentional or otherwise. Doubt Adelaide could have stuck with it, they were out of legs and needed to play a more controlled game.

Ageee Sixer likely would have still lost, no surprise with scheduling but if you win or lose it should be done fairly.

First game I've been to in a little while.
Atmosphere inside was good but wtf was that dance routine at halftime?

Breakers hung tough with Adelaide until they ran out of steam.
Finn Delaney was excellent, he took a page out of Mitch Creek's book and took it hard to the hole every time he touched the ball with great success.
Shaun Long was huge at both ends with big blocks and dunks & Armani Moore got out and ran.
NZ couldn't stop Adelaide inside but narrowly managed to out rebound them allowing them to push the ball. The ball movement was excellent.

That's a great comparison re Delany and Creek, that's exactly how he played yesterday, was amazing to watch. If he can reproduce anything near that against teams that are more switched on defensively he will have a breakout year.

Adelaide were very impressive in the first half and looked like they would blow past 100 points early in the fourth. Scoring and getting to the line at will. The four scoring starters were all contributing strongly. How it changed!

Then they faded and the refereeing seemed to change quite aggressively to compound that. In the fourth, they looked powerless.

Splitting a road double isn't horrible, but it would've been nice if they could hold their line and win in NZ.

Strange how a player gets 21 points in the first half and only 2 in the second .
(I played social on friday night , school saturday morning , church Saturday afternoon , social monday night and not the least bit tired.)
Some like julius hodge played , flew , played with no problems and some get tired.
