NBL Awards chat

As we have hit the FIBA window and all teams have a break from play how do people see the MVP and All NBL teams looking?

Will Patterson or Conger push for all NBL honors by seasons end?

Does Froling have rookie of the year in the bag?

Is Nick Kay all NBL this season?

Thoughts...

Gleeson for Coach of the Year is the only guarantee at this stage

I'll have a crack at all NBL at this stage of the year, basing it on individual performance only.

1st team

PG: Trimble
SG: Cotton
SF: Blanchfield
PF: Kay
C: Bogut

PG and SF prob the toughest to pick with Ware, Randle and Kennedy available too. If Johnson wasn't playing C then would also be close with Kay for that PF spot.

Trev is surely NBA bound soon.

Trimble should not be in the same conversation as Ware or Randle, is only one way player, no matter what the commentators say.

If you take into account who Trimble, Ware and Randles teammates are, you're getting a false representation of Randle and Ware being 2-way players. Trimble actually averages more steals than Cotton, Ware and Randle. You can't expect him to take on the entire offensive load as well as provide the defensive spark. If Trimble had hustle players around him like Cotton and Ware do then it would look much better for him. And I would never call Randle a 2-way player. Randle and Cotton have Martin and Lisch next to them to make them look better.

I hope we don't lose him to the NBA.

The rookie class this season is just brilliant, and possibly the deepest we've had in ages. Froling has had some massive games recently but there's also consistent performances from Illawarra's Grida and Naar. If they step up even more, there might be a bit of contention for the award. Wilson, McVeigh and the like haven't had as big of an impact but there's time for good performances from many of them as well. Future of the NBL in good hands.
