CBL Finals : Geelong forfeit v Mt Gambier

Is this something new, to play the entire season, make finals and then forfeit a week out.

Poor comp which is also poorly run.
Why schedule finals on a long weekend....

There are other comps where teams from different regions are combined for regular season games but then separate to play their own finals series.

Were MtG awarded a 20-0 win as per FIBA rules?

Just curious as I've seen many senior walkover results in Europe but never in Australia.

@ Anon: how's the comp poorly run?
Finals dates were known prior to the season beginning, one would think it's Geelong's mishap for ensuring their players are available for the weekends finals.

Yes, every team entering any competition should know when the finals are being played and ensure their players are committed for the integrity of the club and the competition.

Not a great look to be honest.

But its a long weekend so plenty of people last minute particularity young adults go away.

You'd think the league would have made sure it could have been played last weekend.

I actually had no idea this competition was a thing. Despite the negative end, its good to see some of those towns with a rep basketball team. I grew up in a few of them and there certainly wasn't any rep teams around in the 90s

Its only CBL? So players and coaches have been making a commitment to travel as much as 5 hours to play and compete for a full season in a comp that doesn't really matter. Might not matter to you. I'm sure if Geelong thought they could win they would be playing.

Yes and with everything that Mt Gambier basketball Community have been dealing with a Home final, no matter the level, would have been a great.
