So we let Trimble play one on one all season in many cases to the detriment of the team (note: the wins when Jawai got consistent touches).
But on the one possession where you should have the ball in your best players hands you freeze him out.
That one is on Kelly.
Either:
1) That was his exact play call to use his best player/league leading scorer/guy who got us that close, as a distraction.
2) His team does not have the discipline (20 plus games in) to get the ball to their main guy/the one the play should have been designed for.
Some good points from the commentary regarding the Taipans and their reliance on imports. How are they building anything when everything is based around imports who will likely use Cairns as a stepping stone.
Can anyone see Cairns winning more than 10 games in the next 2 years if they survive? With their budget I can't see them upgrading on Trimble or Newbill. Nate’s production will continue to drop with age. Replace Hall with a decent import 4 (will be cheap so won’t be Willey type unless we downgrade the other 2 import spots).
Loughton will retire come season end, would love to see him run the club tbh. Great club guy, well liked and has a savy media/corporate mind. Would not be surprised to see him in an NBL teams office within a few years hopefully Taipans.
