Which bottom age players from a the recent u18 and aus champs impressed you?

3 from tasmania have been chosen. Deans(B), Crawford(G), Wise(G). Not sure about the other states.

Big changes from past years u15 oceanias?

FIBA has not decided yet LOL

From SA:

Suggest that there be no commentary or analysis on kids under 18.

Looking at the other nations rosters,
I think we might struggle to qualify for the WC in the boys. Won't breeze through like last time. Japan, china and Korea will also be difficult in the women's but we will still likely get through to the WC. Not sure in first place though.

Japan are definitely on the up with their international basketball good results at some levels.

Yes, Japan are improving at a rapid rate. They move the ball too quick for us at junior level and shoot it at a high clip. The girls team also have 3 over 6'2 in the current squad camp. the same as us.

And there is the prediction from SA. The new 1st year is the real star of SA basketball and you would not find an opposition coach or player who does not respecr his game and who is is as a young mna. Do yourself a favour and write down his name. Thats my pick for going all the way over and above the other 3 from SA and the SA expat. Size is not enough, its length, IQ, athleticism, coachability and character that gets players noticed beyond Australia and he has all of that an more to come. I've been watching these age groups for years and picked it years ago along with others and 18 Nationals was his breakout tournament. We knew it would come eventually.

some continue to be invited despite there being no progress in their game and relationships are already built. Shame that upcoming talent is overlooked over past talent that are probably needing to be released. disappointing but there are other avenues to succes outside the limited state and national programs

Oceania u17s (02/03 born) start mid next month and supposably u16 Asian champs (03/04) are not too long after.

Will be interesting to see if they add anyone from the u16 aus champs. A Few boys did really well.

Calling BS on the inclusion. SA know the score and truth will prevail within games and if it doesn't it will show we do have a problem with selection because he got hammered by apparently lesser players in SA.

Thought 04s Pierre, Amum and papacostas were good in the post. I wonder how they compare with 03s McWilliams, pennisi and Thomson etc.

The girls team (17 players) is well chosen, except for maybe Heal missing.

The boys though.... who is choosing these players. Sure there are a few clear guard standouts but we are so thin in the big department. Where are the leading rebounders from u16s (the bottom agers). height alone should not be an automatic selection. I'm not sure we can even make the WC.
