Ranking NBL Teams Import Recruitment

Where would you rank each team from 1-9? Taking into account not only finding the best available Imports within the "Salary Cap", and of-course each clubs own available budget, but also the best imports that fit each teams system, consistently every season. And what makes you rank them in that order?

Interested to see your rankings!

Current imports

Kings Ware, Taylor, Louzada, Tate. 3 of them been top notch contributors.
United Trimble, Prather, Long. All 3 could be avg 20 pts by seasons end.
Taipans Machado, Newbill, Oliver. Within the budget, excellent choices.
Wildcats Cotton, White, Hunt. White n hunt wishy washy
Breakers Hampton, Henry, Hopson, Rice, Ashley. Lots of potential, haven't all delivered at once.
36ers Randle, Moore, Griffin. Same old, Griffin a downgrade on Wiley.
Phoenix Roberson, Armstrong, Crockett, Wesley, Benson. Only Roberson has proved himself.
Bullets Singler, Braun, Patterson. Lots of players in playing same P and Patterson not fit.

It's definitely one of the best groups of imports (at the top end) but they are being dragged down by some spuds, especially at the Bullets.

Braun & Singler are the worst pair of imports on one team I’ve seen since the budget NBL days (late 00’s early 10’s). Singler will probably stay as the budget import but Braun HAS to go. Don’t understand why they haven’t they pulled the trigger yet.

Their roster is so unbalanced with so many wings (Sobey (not a PG), Gliddon, Patterson, Braun, Singler, Te Rangi Can you imagine how much better they would be with a good import PG and PF?

Stith is an import and plays for Melbourne, Prather replacement when he needs a break.

The rankings depend on whether we include next star players.
For mine without next stars;
Melbourne.
Sydney on the strength of Ware and Tate. Taylor no good.
Perth
Cairns , can see Oliver and Machado getting offers from the other clubs.
Adelaide, imports aren't that bad they just need better locals like Cairns.
SEM. Roberson is class but they aren't getting much else at import spots.
NZ. Ashley and Henry ok but Rice a basket case.
Brisbane. Not good probably overspent on Sobey.
Illawarra only have Boone who is past it unfortunately.

If Didi is added it's a coin toss for top between Melbourne and Sydney.

DJ Newbill is excellent at taipans, Cairns three imports on budget value would be the best, Melbourne three are all on the highest money.

Cairns trio is the best value.

Bullets are so unbalanced. Singler or Braun in different teams with different roles may be okay but the team balance at Brisbane is terrible.

For Brisbane to have a chance...

Import / Cadee
Sobey / Gliddon
Patterson / Te Rangi
Import / Vukona
Hodgson / Magnay

Semi ranked, but not really in a proper order:

Cairns absolutely nailed their imports, very impressed with their recruiting for a small market budget.

Ware/Tate were great pick ups for the Kings. Big fan of both. Taylor a handy addition too.

Despite having a couple of bad games each, White/Cotton is one of the best import duo's going around, and Hunt has been streaky but showing flashes.

United on paper looks great, but I'm still not convinced about how well they all fit together, especially across a 3-5 game playoff series. Kind of lazy recruiting too imo.

NZ have been a mixed bag, but pretty good overall.

SEM/Bullets/Adelaide have 1 gun import they rely on and 2 trash ones thst don't fit and could easily be replaced.

Hawks have basically forgotten they're allowed imports.

1) Cairns. Have always done a great job securing decent imports on a budget.
2) Breakers. Have unearthed some good talent, and been prepared to change it up when they haven't.
3) Adelaide. Joey has generally been good at identifying talent to fit his needs within his budget.
4) Melbourne. Have made some very good moves at times, but at others simply resort to poaching. This season their entire lineup was originally poached from other teams.
5) Perth. A real mixed bag. Have struck absolute gold with some, but shit with others and been unwilling to make hard choices.
6) Illawarra. A few highlights over the years and have sometimes done ok on a limited budget, and hey they got LaMelo.
7) Brisbane. 1 or 2 good ones, but generally should have done much better.
8) Sydney. Their only good imports they have poached from other teams. Poor history of spending too much on misfitting average imports.
