The Sydney Cheaters Chant

For those attending the RAC Arena tomorrow, maybe its time to get a crowd chant going calling out the kings for cheating with 4 imports. "Cheaters .. Cheaters ... Cheaters"

Send a message to NBL head office, a next star is not a professional who played in another league and then got drafted.

Might be the most entertaining thing to watch, the cats themselves likely to get trounced.

Remember that time the Wildcats signed a player from Guam as a local, that was a hoot. Within the rules, also.

It was pretty obvious in 17/18 - it was blatant last year and this time in 19/20 Sydney is just taking the piss buying a premiership. The league will do everything they can to facilitate it, the players just need to show up!

Cats supporters prefer a league where they dominate with their mediocre team, and no good Aussie players play in Australia. They would prefer Dan Grida dominating midgets as long as cats can claim the chip every year without facing any challenge or adversity. Bunch of front runners.

Why do people always bring up the Wildcats recruiting someone from Guam and forget about the Breakers who did it first (and better)?

Perth fans would prefer if Perth (and probably NZ) were the only teams competing for the championship each year, with other teams disappearing because the league is in such a weak financial situation under the control of BA and it's horrible points cap. Remember when Perth were threatening to leave the NBL and play in the SE Asian league because the NBL was too poor, wasn’t worth their time or competitive enough? Just not happy that they can’t outspend everyone like the good old days.

"Cats supporters prefer a league where they dominate with their mediocre team, and no good Aussie players play in Australia."

Wow, you didn't really think that one through...

So your solution to a problem, whereby Teams like Perth and Melbourne outspend everyone else, is to have Sydney spend even more??

Our first championship with Cotton, I think clearly would not have been possible under the old rules.

Certainly last season, bringing back Cotton, signing White, Bringing in Kay & Norton, you'd have to say that the new system worked to our advantage.

But Sydney are just taking the piss.
And if its bad now, what happens when Perth and Melbourne decide to kick it up a notch?

The idea of bringing back expats as Marquees is a good one. Perth did it with Jawai and won a championship.
I just don't think they should ALL be playing for Sydney.

Sure, this is a stupid thread, but for some weird reason, all the Sydney apologists want to rant and rave at Perth??
Dude, we've won FOUR out of the last 6 championships, and the Perth Arena is packed by 12,000 fans even when we're getting our arses beat on.
You really thing we're the ones that should be worried?

Perth fans cop it, because they are the most arrogant easy to dislike fan base, that shovel their 'red army' agenda down every social media outlet.

The players aren’t hated, Norton/Kay great Aussie personifies cotton is fun to watch, Terrico has been flashy, but the fan base does them no favours.

Bogut said in Perth yesterday ""I can tell you we're not far over that salary cap. It's pretty tight," Bogut said after landing in Perth on Thursday.
"Every dollar we go over (the soft cap) we have to write a cheque to (NBL owner) Larry Kestelman, so we're trying to stay as far below that figure as we can.
"I can tell you for a fact that there are clubs spending as little as they can as well.
"If clubs are going to try to go as far below the salary cap as they can, they're going to get the same results they're getting."

Weaver is the main reason this group is where it is - he and replacing Randle for a superior PG in Ware. Gaze wasn't a coach, everyone knows that. Weaver is a coaching lifer on the other hand. Would many people have gotten as much out of Shaun Bruce as he has? Or Craig Moller? Jae'Sean Tate is a budget import - just because he's playing out of his mind, everyone is assuming he's being paid megabucks. LOL. He's on way less than most imports in the league, just like Chris Williams was back in the day. Weaver has had a lot to do with how well Tate has played.

Anyway, it's all good banter. I can't wait to see the Red Army boo the shit out of Bogut tonight. Some chants like '4 imports' and 'you are cheaters' would be fun as well.

Perth are so lucky that Kay and Norton went to the other side country to play for free and before them most of their team.

You only need to no an agent or two to find out Melbourne even balked at what Kay was getting paid.

Wildcats fans are just like Manchester United fans, outspent everyone else and gamed the system to their advantage for years and years and then scream that it's unfair when another team does exactly the same to them.

Whats the soccer equivalent of a basketcase club whose only success is buying titles before going broke, then resurfacing years later as a basketcase club whose only success is attempting to buy more titles, but this time telling every other club what they're doing wrong?

I dont know, what the fuck is it with our club? We are like drug addicts, repeating the same boom and bust cycle year after year.
New Owners come, new owners go, and the cycle repeats.
We bounce around between venues, seemingly dependent on how much cash the owners have.
AEG were supposed to be the latest in a long line of saviours, but all the gave us was Andrew "Humpty Dumpty" Gaze, and then they pissed off too.

I'm selfish, so I am loving this season and looking forward to hopefully a pennant at the end of it. Then with a bit of luck a few more to come, but anyone can see its not sustainable. How can it be? Perth still get more people and always have done yet we're spending more money. How does that work?

Don't listen to Bogut. Im glad Smith has deep pockets and were doing exactly what Perth, Melbourne, New Zealand, and Brisbane have all done before us.

Who says it's not sustainable, euro clubs have smaller stadiums and pay good money in the top division one leagues. LK is a true business man with great vision, Smith from the kings the same, ex nba guys buying in. Lots of promising signs by people who love basketball, they don’t want to lose money but there probably happy to see less profits as well.

For the first time in decades Perth are not the wealthiest club and the sky is falling in. Chant what ever you like but while the league is going great I don’t give a rats.

No point having a shit league like previous, it’s either great or not at all imo.

Typical, Cats fans would rather a team goes bust so they have no one to challenge them. They would rather win a four team league every year just to keep the streak alive rather than seeing an entertaining basketball league. Just enjoy it until Bendat dies and your next owner is a basketcase.

So an owner who has a stake not only in the team, but the home venue, and the ticketing agency? A team which just set the highest crowd attendance for an NBL game? As opposed to a 94 year old geriatric? Good luck when he goes and the money dries up.

Bendat could die tomorrow and the cats will continue to be sustainable. he isn't just throwing good money after bad, and never has done.

The Kings owner has been in it for a season and a bit, has spent big, but is getting lower crowds than Perth, you think thats the guy we should all be following? Good luck when he realises he isn’t making any money and fucks off, taking the league down with him. Idiot.
