Phoenix v Cats Dec 8

Fresh from ripping the Kings a new one, the Cats crack their collective knuckles and say "who's next?"

So far this round all the home teams have hit par, but with Cotton on fire and Kay owning the ring, SEM have their work cut out for them today. They have the fresher legs but Damo will be all over Roberson like a cheap suit. The big question is whether the Cats peaked early, or whether they have enough in the tank.

That leads me to expect two game styles today, SEM will want a fast running game with Creeky on fast breaks slamming down the jam, the Cats will want a more sedate game with tight defence so that in the fourth they have enough in the tank to hold old before the cramps set in.

If the cards fall a certain way, we'll see Cairns in 4th spot later on tonight. I think that will happen today. This game will be close, but Perth on the road go WLWLWL, which means a W is next. I think Perth will sneak this one and don't be surprised for an OT, or double OT game.

Picks Cairns to be in the top four by the end of the day, and also picks Sydney to beat Cairns. Ok then.

Why do they fixture home and away doubles? Why a team play's home or away then travel? What happened to just to do a double on the road?

Instance perth could play sem and united on the same weekend? Or Sydney go perth adelaide?

Understand availability on venue's but every team does it, still don't understand why?

Perth has cairns on Thursday then a fresh brisbane back in perth saturday too. Seems fair.

1 game doesn't "generate momentum".

It means precisely that. They played a good game, and didn’t let their opponents have a sniff.

Either Perth will win, or the travel will win. SEM aren’t good enough to get the win without the travel making it difficult for Perth.

I'm with J,

Terrible draw, Perth should play all games at home to just stop the whiners coming out Perth.

Bad idea playing Wesley at the 5 against a Perth team who crashes the offensive glass like this

Rare mistake from Simon Mitchell

Perth have packed away the D and saving it til the last quarter...
Because they fear losing to the travel.

Wildcats need to improve their defence. Get those rebounds and run their sets. Seem to be forgetting their playbook.

Phoenix looks too strong and if you're incline then put thousands on them to win.

Lot easier to defend in Perth when you can whack and crash and no that you're not going to get called for a foul.

Phoenix won't make finals unless they sort out there five man, no matter how much Pineau has improved he not big enough or athletic enough to be a starting five in this league.

Called it a few weeks ago. Gleeson greenlighting steindl to get him into form. His shooting was woeful but he was the key to keeping up with the face paced high scoring teams.

LMAO at all the wingnuts "Oh, Salty Butthurt Perf fans"
Like I said, Perth are not the team that needs to worry. Perth still clearly better than 7 other teams, and able to give the Kings a good shake. In a 5 game GF series, I would put my money on Gleeson and the Cats even without home court advantage.

It is the rest of the league that needs to worry about being left for dead by the Kings. But thats okay, everyone just keep putting your head in the sand and bitching about Perf.

If your team philosophy is to outscore your opposition and DEFENCE is not a priority, Perth will burn you 9 out of 10 games. That is why Q4 highlighted the above and really Perth just kicked up a gear and Sth Melbourne went down a gear.

Yeah, Phoenix's defence is improving every week but it’s not quite ready to beat Perth yet. On yesterday’s display I think they’ll get there. They also need to get used to having Tai there, changes their offensive focus significantly

D2.0

"Terrico is a cold blooded killer.
Why was D2.0 so determined to sack him last season?"

In the early part of the season, the frustration was threefold:

Firstly, I think I was the only fan in the country who liked JP

2nd, is the inevitable "Wildcats" frustration, where Trev says "we're looking for a Prather/Ennis Hybrid", and then instead we sign another SG.
(ALthough with a starting five that includes Martin & Kay, I can understand why 3-point production was a priority, even for a SF.)

Lastly, early on last season, he was inconsistent and very frustrating to watch. We didn't really see the killer instinct until later.
This weekend, he has already played like it was the play-offs, awesome to see.

Simon Mitchell is a smart guy, his quote, "I can't believe these chumps who have been writing them off". Feel like he's targeting the commentators and hoops forum Perth haters.
