United vs Bullets, Dec 29

Neither team has had a consistent run to close the year, Melbourne dropping the home game against Cairns, and Brisbane beating the Kings before falling to the Breakers.

Anyone fancy the Bullets?

It's Independence Day in Mongolia, and that means the Bullets are also In (the) Deep End without a paddle.

What, don't you like wit and sarcasm?

Ease up on this trolling of Jack Toft FFS. He puts in a lot of effort and without him some games wouldn't even have threads and others would just be anonymous dickheads constantly trolling to try and destroy the place and you're doing a very good job of it I might add.

If not for Jack Toft I'm not sure I would even bother to come here anymore.

Think United should get the W.

Highlighting the price of fish in Mongolia has no linkage to an Illawarra game is not trolling.

I am sure others would start game threads with relevant, interesting and God forbid even funny content if Toft were to vanish.

I'd like to thank Isaac for creating these two game day threads.

Crikey, aren't I allowed a sleep in on a Sunday morning?

Bugs Bunny United should get this one over the Yosemite Sam Bullets. Not enough fire power from Sam to beat the cunning of the wascally wabbits

Brisbane are very average, I can't see them anywhere near Melbourne even allowing for Melbourne’s inconsistency. Melbourne by 13 .

Wtf is a cider in basketball terms and why does this muppet on commentary keep using it as if its a super common term. I know what he's trying to say but I've search alot of basketball terms and forum's pretty sure no one else uses the term other than this one commentator.
If I'm mistaken can someone please correct me?

the worst thing in the nbl is the usf and the refs video replay checking. The NBL can have their own rules, piss off the FIBA rules.

I didn't listen to the commentary but I assume it was Dwayne Russell commentating. A soda is footy parlance for an easy shot on goal. Got nothing to do with basketball of course but footy heads can't help themselves.

Yep Video Vaughan best on ground tonight ;)

United a team of stars who like it easy, they should be first on talent and they have spent more than all. They could still win it but they look a rabble at present. Trimble and Long have talent but just don't understand basketball.

The competition is so even, Perth still favourites.

Time for Dean Vickerman to go, recruited players to this team that don't stand up.
CG43 is the teams best shooter and they don't run plays for him to get open to score. Just bazaar.
Long plays well when there is no pressure on at the start of the game. Goes missing when the game needs to be won
Trimble can't carry the team to wins
Barlow is well passed it

A team as talented on paper as Melbourne should not be 10-9. The only way that happens is when there are internal issues in the team. I think that's becoming more evident with each loss. The poor body language and lack of camaraderie is showing.

Trimble and Long are in it for themselves. Terrible recruiting.

The internal issues started last season when Trist got cut for a player no better than him and the money BJ Kennedy was earning spread to the rest team and supposed miss information of players wages.
You can't have a team of stars, you need role players who understand. Trimble is so used to playing iso ball but can’t do that at Melbourne, he doesn’t no when to pass or shoot. There defence for a Vickerman coached side is deplorable.

No comeback atm

Freely admit I thought United was headed onwards and upwards after the win against Perth

Just got back from weekend away and very shocked to hear this result. United too talented to miss the 4 but the clock is ticking, they've left themselves vulnerable and open to another injury or two rendering this another disaster season like 14-15 Or 16-17

Now I'm not a fan of Dwayne Russell at all but I will clarify something for him, it is a cider or a soda, it's a sighter and he says it early in games when clutch players like Roberson, Cotton, Ware have a shot for 3 early in the game, it's meant to represent that when it is their time to take over the game they will remember how to find the basket.

Is Smith Milner the most selfish 'role player' in the NBL, he continues to walk around on the court like he shouldn't be boxing out for rebounds and he takes so many ill-advised shots... know your role Tohi

[Hilarious that LV is pretending he only "found out" about the result]

Years ago I attended every Tigers home game plus the occasional interstate game, but last year I prolly went to 4 or so, including playoffs

This season I haven't been to a game yet. Saw 5 minutes vs Cairns, none of Bris.

Only games I 100% prioritise to watch are Sydney and Perth, plus will try to attend the playoffs

Life changes, and basketball falls down the priority list.

Always good keeping up with Hoops anons though!

How come you're such an expert then?

Fair enough about having other priorities. The way things are going, you won't have to worry about attending playoffs anyway

Maybe you're right! Still hoping Kidd is the panacea to our defensive woes but letting Brisbane off the chain isn't a great start

I still watch a fair bit of NBL, Kayo and recordable TV makes that easy, but often I'll watch 1.5x or 2x speeds, or watch a half of 3 different games instead of 1 full game. It's just what works for me at this stage of life
