To the above poster Caporn has pulled out, probably due to the virus. He has also pulled out of other coaching jobs in the NBL previously so can’t say it’s just an Adelaide thing

I doubt Caporn has pulled out in the last 12 hours. Ten News aren't going to run a story effectively saying Caporn is the new Sixers coach, along with a picture of Caporn next to the newsreaders head if it's not legit.
Caporn has been talking to a former 36er's assistant about joining him. Looking more like Clarke v2 if he does take the role.
I'm guessing that would be Radford....oh my.
FYI Clarke, Radford and Caporn are all from the same coaching tree, and are all mates.

He posted his "rumour" three weeks ago. It could very well have been true then - obviously a lot has changed in the world in the past few weeks.
Olgun said Adelaide offered him the job but he turned it down. If an applicant is offered a job, its not much of a stretch to join the dots and say he will accept. He didn't but it doesnt mean its a false rumour or useless source.

Other than states' total lockdown, but that could still be part of the contract to cancel the contract if such scenarios take place.

The offer of the job stood. The money was reduced due to the virus. Smart to stay, imagine the roster won't be anything to be excited about.

120k dead all over the world, most of them over 70 yrs of age. And well over half those deaths are from only 4 countries. This thing is getting sorted out. The curve is being flattened, health systems are prepared, treatments in human trials and basketball and businesses need to get ready to operate when this small bump is out the way.

There's a pretty damn big gap between "doing nothing" and "splashing money around hiring a coach for a season that is far from certain to even go ahead".
Businesses aren't throwing money around right now because we have no idea what the future really looks like and when things will be back up and running again. Even after restrictions are lifted (and we don't know when that will be), are people going to have the disposable income for attending sports in the same numbers as before? Are people going to want to go out and be in big crowds?
But no, the fact that Adelaide might end up with a lesser coach is obviously the most important thing here.
Get some perspective people.

It is not a small a number, it could have been worse. We should be very concerned but this will be over soon.

Restrictions will begin to be removed soon and the season will go on, it will be different post virus than it would have been if it never came but it will go on. Get on board the NBL train champ.

Caporn may well have spoken to three coaching "graduates" of the ex-AIS - all of whom would have strongly advised him not to chance his arm with the 36ers.
Frank Arsego would be like a triple retread on a 10 year old tyre carcass that has already had a few blowouts - wouldn't trust even it as the second emergency spare, which , by the way, may well be where the 36ers coaching search may be down to.
Could you imagine that conversation between Caporn and Clarke.
Caporn: "I've been offered the 36ers job Marty. I know it didn't go as well as you hoped. What advice could you give me to ensure I succeed?"
Clarke: "Nothing Adam. I wasn't the problem, it was the fans, the media, the players, everyone else was the problem."

I still think a young international coach would be a good thing, depending on travel restrictions. Otherwise we are down to retreads or charlatans like Flynn. American coaches that haven't been involved in Australian basketball have proven to be failures generally like Demopoulos. Jury is out for me on Weaver, sure, made the finals but had a loaded roster and struggled at the end of season.
Ultimately it's been a bad perfect storm for Sixers. Joey dramas, Whites tweets, Covid19, uncertainty of season affecting sponsorship and salaries, travel restrictions.
I fear it's going to have to be KB simply because no-one else wants it.
Wasn't Forde interviewed, said Caporn had the job, surely he’d be worth a go, take a few players with him.

According to Santa not Flynn not Forde not Brooks not Beveridge, possibly overseas candidate and that Caporn was a "breakdown of negotiation" opposed to “turned down”

I was assuming the economic downturn would mean less money to spend on the roster?
If so, what are the priorities?
Do they blow most of the budget on the main rotation (1-7) and go really cheap on the last four spots?
Will the coronavirus in Europe etc mean more Aussies looking to play here and result in pretty good rosters for the same/less money?

Henare would be the best option from all the names suggested. He has up to date knowledge of the league, has had good history, and seems to get players playing for him.
The Caporn situation was probably more about the timing and corona impact. It would be hard to leave job security at CoE for a position that the league doesn't really know when it will start and in what capacity
Dunlap right now is exactly what the club needs.

Yeah the angry redhead. Maybe he has improved? Stewie would be in the mix but he shouldn't take it. Let someone else do it for a few season and he can learn and move to the next level. He is one of the most successful coaches in the SEABL and needs experience to move to the next level in time.
Not certain which way he goes from here, six players signed plus next star and othe than Johnson really all bench players. Really need two good imports plus two more quality locals.

Difference is Radford was an assistant coach. Has any other assistant coach got a tech foul in the last 20 years? One tech by an assistant coach is one too many. He then showed no responsibility it was even him. From memory there was a post on here where he (Or was it Clarke?) got into an argument with a fan after a game. So not only did he not take responsibility, he couldn't control his emotions. That as well as the team sitting bottom of the ladder 2 of the 3 years (the one they finished second to last, a new team came into the league). So I think the crap tag is justified

Copeland got several as Sydney Assistant. Perth's assistant Scott Roth got one late in the season in Melbourne against United.
The Clarke - Radford years were the worst in 36ers history as displayed by the data.
Worst results on court. Crowd numbers going down year on year.
They were rightly hated by the majority of the fanbase at the end by the arrogant way the both of them carried themselves while seeing our club fall to pieces. If you remember there were multiple posts on Hoops from people close to them ripping into the fans.
The moment they left things immediately improved.
The fact there is people on here still defending them is amazing.
