He's been accused of rape. But you'll note the terminology is "sued" not "charged".

It's dangerous to be a wealthy, sexually active man. Not all women will do you over for money but some certainly will.

I understand the civil courts in the US to require a lower standard of evidence to sue successfully than the criminal judiciary.

Just because the police didn't lay any charges does not mean it is a foregone conclusion from a civil suit POV.

I hope Tferg is successful in defending against such claims.

Yeah in a criminal case it needs to be proven beyond reasonable doubt, whereas a civil trial it just needs to be about which story is more likely to be true based on the evidence.

Criminal rape trials have a low prosecution rate and a low conviction rate precisely because "beyond reasonable doubt" is really hard to achieve when it often comes down to one person's word against the other.

Labelling the victim as money grubbing because they have taken this route is a good example of the deeply routed bias of our society to not believe women.
