I believe Adelaide will be missing it's import (Sloan) who is still back in the US and of course the replacement for Kyei.

I saw a bit about last nights game on tv news, but missed the start of it.
They interviewed Kevin Brooks who was playing, I saw Smyth in the background and some young ones.
This was Entertainment Centre and there were 4,500 there..
Mighta been oldies v young ones..

Is it just my eyes or is Froling heavier than last year. Adelaide looking much better. Putting up stats while highlights in background is poor though.

I'm really liking the look of Giddey but not so much Pinder.

DJ's out there trying to get his shots quota up like it's mid-season.

Don't know if Froling is heavier, but he looks about as effective tonight as he did last season... Not very. Humphries also looked a bit blah to start but had a few nice scores in the 2nd Q.

Is it just me or is the hate on Teys semi-unwarranted? Yeah he's bot the best, but he’s at least a decent defender and does the 1%ers.

Also Giddey is looking legit and Froling looks worse than last year.

Beegee,

Teys just cops it from the peanut gallery because he's a bit slow and not athletic but is a good defender and smart player that every coach in the league would want on their roster.

I also think it didn't help that he was Joey's favourite so it gave the impression he was only on the team because of that, he's no Daniel Joyce that's for sure.

3500+ in attendance at a pre-season game. Hope just as many turn up at Sunday's game.

Perhaps the move to AEC should have occurred well before last year as patron numbers for pre-season games (and last seasons regular season games) have been very good.

History (apparently) indicated the Sixers would be lucky to get 1000 paying patrons tonight. Good signs all things considered

Nice to see the Sixers not switching everything on defence finally! As everyone has said, Giddey looking impressive.

Hulland had a great night! If he keeps shooting as sweetly as that, there's an NBL career ahead of him for sure! Hope the Sixers have signed him up? Maybe Obi's spot?

Only player on the Sixers that worries me right now is Pinder. Hope the coaches can get him to focus on his strengths and we see a better performance on Sunday.

I actually thought Froling looked less fat than he did last season, but he didn't achieve much out there, for all his physicality.

Where's Hodgson? Injured?

Who else is Brisbane missing? Magnay and an import? If Magnay is gone, they are not looking good at this stage. They are very dependent on Sobey to carry them right now!

Drmic had a decent game, but he still hasn't shown himself to be the consistent scorer he needs to be. This Brisbane team are going to need more from him!

To be fair to the Bullets they pretty much just played their bench and DP's with Sobey they were missing Cadee, Magnay, Hodgson and haven't signed any imports yet, the Sixers though were close to full strength just missing Sloan and the replacement for Kyei which for the short term is Hulland anyway.

Adelaide can sign both and import and Hulland can't they? That's not get ahead ourslelves after one game, but you can see him playing some handy minutes if he can space the floor like that.

Humphries-Hulland
Johnson-Pinder
Import-Mcveigh
Dech-Teys
Sloan-Giddey-Dillon

Pinder played in Switzerland last season, decent league but nowhere near the nbl. As with everything time will tell, on last nights sample Hulland looked great, Pinder is an athlete but basketball wise didn't look great. Dech was very good, just goes about it without any fan fanfare. I would think Giddley has to start on last nights performance.

Pinder can block shots and is athletic. I feel like he's not been coached properly before or something. He can also save us from that jump shot and stop taking them.

Hulland plays for Forestville, didn't look all that flash in the grand final.

Watching the 36ers preseason game it’s definitely to be tempered by the fact it’s preseason and there were a LOT of young players. That makes it easier for an almost full Adelaide roster to look good, equally easy to make Giddey look good. Curious how he operates during the season when faced against traps and veteran defenders.

With that said, was super impressed at how poised Giddey was, at how aggressive he was at the right times without forcing it and his passing game as anticipated is world class. Intelligent youngster.

If Adelaide manage a hopson type import, that can give 36ers flexibility in length. If you’re a team defending Adelaide who do you make defend Giddey if you also have to defend a lengthy SF import as well? Possibly even Dech if Sloan is off. How many teams have that many lengthy defenders?

KET, I'm a Drmic fan, but I wonder if it came down to:
1) how much he was asking
2) would he get in the way of McVeigh's development

It'll be awhile before we know the answer, but I think the Sixers are betting that McVeigh will be a better 3 point threat than Drmic and also see his personality as a big plus for team morale and community engagement.

Totally agree with your comments about a small forward second import. It was good to hear JVG saying they are still considering an extra import on the broadcast.

What Aussies are left that we realistically have a shot at and would complement our existing pieces?

I think we will need to get a second import if we really want to compete with the top 3.
