Rockets trade Harden to Nets

Earlier today, rumours were firming that a Harden trade was looming, and that it was down to the 76ers (for Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle) and Nets. Looks like involving the Cavs got it done for the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to acquire James Harden from the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets will acquire four first round picks and four pick swaps. Brooklyn will send out Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince as part of the package.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will acquire Allen and Prince while sending a 2022 first round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks, Rodions Kurucs and Dante Exum to the Rockets.

The Rockets will own unprotected first round picks from the Nets in 2022, 2024, 2026, Milwaukee's unprotected first round pick in 2022, as well as first round swap rights with the Nets in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027.

Houston will go under the luxury tax by $3.65 million and the hard cap by $9.95 million per Bobby Marks of ESPN.

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade Victor Oladipo to the Houston Rockets in a package centered on Caris LeVert and a second rounder.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will waive Thon Maker and Yogi Ferrell.

The Cavaliers participated in the multi-team James Harden trade by acquiring Jarrett Allen.

Basically Exum and Bucks 22 1st for Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince.
Seems like a good deal for the Cavs?

Cavs killed it. Also harden was half assing it and still was a walking 25-11 assists this season so once he gets motivated watch out. The Nets have a 3 year window

Allen is due for a big pay day, so while its good for the Cavs, it'll likely end up costing them a lot.

Unless they can find a taker for Drummond's expiring deal this season will be a massive logjam in the middle too

They can always flip Allen's expiring deal for picks and pieces

Assuming Irving comes back in the right frame of mind, that big three may be the best ever assembled. Wonder how long it takes for them to gel. Defense is gonna be an issue.

Cavs overflowing with bigs now, even with Maker shown the door. Allen is a good get.

Also had to laugh at a new article on the trade commenting on Simmons "bright start" to the season - Sixers fans were screaming for Simmons to be traded for Harden. Wonder if a trade will happen anyway.

Drummond has been decent, but I'd look to flip him and lock up Allen if possible for the Cavs. Cavs easy winners of this trade right now. The picks should end up being handy for the Rockets down the line, but who knows. The Nets... well, I just don't see it. IMO they should look to move Kyrie asap, if he has any value at this point.

Harden is insane basketball player. I never he can play like this . His playmaking skills are extraordinary and he is so efficient now. He won't win mvp because of what happened in Houston but he and Embiid and probaly Jokic are the runaway leaders
